초등학교에서의 공동체적 수업실천과 공동체의식이 학교폭력 자제행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 최근에 심각한 교육문제 및 사회문제가 되고 있는 학교폭력에 주목하여 그 에 대한 예방 및 대책을 강구하고자 하는 목적의 일환으로 학교폭력의 학교 내 관련요인이 라고 할 수 있는 공동체적 수업실천과 학생들의 공동체의식이 학교폭력 자제행동에 주는 영 향을 이론적으로 논구하고 그것을 실증적으로 확인하고자 하였다. 부산시 초등학교 27개교 에 재학하는 4, 5, 6학년을 대상으로 4,525명을 표집하여 이들에게 공동체적 수업실천, 공동 체의식, 학교폭력 자제행동을 측정하는 문항으로 구성된 질문지를 사용하여 자료를 수집하 였다. 공동체적 수업실천이 공동체의식을 매개변인으로 하여 학교폭력에 주는 영향을 주요 연구문제로 설정하였고, 그것을 구조방정식을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과로는 첫째, 공 동체적 수업실천은 공동체의식에 뚜렷한 영향을 주었다. 둘째, 공동체의식은 학교폭력 자제 행동에 뚜렷한 영향을 주었으며 공동체적 수업실천의 학교폭력 자제행동에 대한 영향의 대 부분을 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 초등학교 고학년들의 공동체적 수업실천, 공동체의 식, 학교폭력 자제행동 수준은 다소 높은 편이었으나 바람직한 수준에는 못 미치는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 넷째, 6학년은 4학년에 비해서 공동체적 수업실천, 공동체의식, 학교폭력 자제행 동의 수준에 있어서 다소 낮았으며, 세 변인 간의 인과적 영향 정도에 있어서는 별 차이가 없었으나 수업실천과 공동체의식이 학교폭력 자제행동을 설명하는 양은 4학년에 비해 6학년 이 약간 적었다. 끝으로, 공동체적 수업실천, 공동체의식, 학교폭력 자제행동의 수준에 있어 서 여학생들이 남학생들보다 다소 더 높았으며 공동체의식이 학교폭력에 주는 영향도 여학 생들이 남학생들보다 약간 더 높았다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 학교폭력을 줄이기 위해서는 공동체적 수업실천과 그에 따른 공동체의식을 높일 것과 특히 이것을 초등학교에서 학년이 높아질수록, 여학생보다는 남학생들에게 더 강화할 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Attempting to find out valuable suggestions and implications for reducing school violence this study tested empirically the effects of the communal classroom instructional practices and the sense of community on the inhibitory school violence based on theoretical examination of the causal relationships among the three variables. Based on survey data collected from a sample of 4,525 elementary students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades this study employed the structural equation modelling to test the causal relationships among the two unobserved independent variables and the observed dependent variable. The results are as follows. First, the classroom instructional practices exerted significant effects on the sense of community. Second, the sense of community had a significant direct effect on the inhibitory school violence. Third, the effect of the communal classroom instructional practices on the inhibitory school violence was entirely mediated by the sense of community. Fourth, the 6th graders, compared to the 4th graders, had a slightly higher level in the communal classroom instructional practices, the sense of community, and the inhibitory school violence, and the explained variance of the inhibitory school violence owing to the two independent variables was smaller for the 6th graders. Lastly, the male students, compared to the females, were slightly lower in the level of the communal classroom instructional practices, the sense of community, and the inhibitory school violence, the effect of the sense of community on the inhibitory school violence was slightly lower for the males than the females. Based on the results the following suggestions were presented. First, as a way of preventing school violence the sense of community of students needs to be enhanced by reinforcing the communal instructional practices in elementary schools.
