여고생의 진학포부 결정요인의 한일비교 - 성역할 의식과 계층을 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국과 일본의 고등학생 의식조사를 통해 여고생의 진학포부 결정요인을 비교 분석한 것이다. 먼저 성역할 의식을 살펴보면 한국과 일본 모두에서 진학포부는 물론, 장래의 진로 선택과 성역할 의식에는 유의한 상관이 있었다. 특히 일본의 경우에는 부모의 사회 계층이 높을수록 성역할 의식이 약하나 한국에서는 계층에 따른 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이를 학교 변수와 관련하여 살펴본 결과 여고생의 진학포부에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 두 나라 모두 학교의 성적으로 대표되는 업적이었다. 그러나 일본에서는 업적요인과 별도로 사회계층과 성역할 의식이 진학포부에 상당한 영향을 미치고 있으나 한국에서는 이러한 영향력을 찾아볼 수 없었다. 여고생의 진학포부에 한정지어 본다면 일본은 사회의 젠더 규범이 강하고 계층화된 사회라고 할 수 있으며 한국은 적어도 일본보다는 젠더 규범이 강하고 의식의 평등화 정도가 크다는 것을 짐작할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the relationship between the social classes and educational aspiration from a viewpoint of gender based on the inquiry of high school students. In the aspect of educational aspiration, boy students want to go to four-years university and girl students want to go to junior college in Japan. In Korea, however, most of girl students as well as boy students want to go to four-years university or even to graduate school. School performance is the most important factor in the school decision of students both in Japan and In Korea. Even when this factor is controlled in regressive analysis, the influence of class still remains strong in Japan compared to Korea. As a result of this analysis connected with gender consciousness, it is found that gender socialization is realized according to social classes in Japan, while meritocratic principle is applied even to girl students regardless of those in Korea. This result suggests that the levels of consciousness and its aspects by gender are diverse according to society and culture, although both Japan and Korea are under the influence of confucianism.
