영문 초록

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of Forgiveness educational program on forgiveness, self-esteem, depression and spiritual well-being in middle aged women with breast cancer. Methods: The research design was nonequivalent control group design with pre-test and post-test. 30 participants were selected from the new members of S breast cancer support group, who were receiving chemotherapy after mastectomy for breast cancer in one hospital in Busan, South Korea. Data were collected from March 14th to April 11th, 2011. Forgiveness educational program consisted of 4-stages. The intervention was provided once a week for 100 minutes for 4 times in total by means of lecture and group counseling. Results: the experimental group had been higher degree of forgiveness state(z=-3.496, p=.001), self-esteem state(F=12.381, p=.002), spiritual well-being state(F=19.394, p<.001) and had been lower degree of depression state(F=15.449, p<.001) than control group. Conclusion: Forgiveness educational program was effective on forgiveness, self-esteem, depression and spiritual well-being of middle aged women with breast cancer. Therefore, it is expected that it can be used not only for middle aged breast cancer patients, but also for various patients, their families, and clinicians.
