고교졸업반 탈북학생들을 대상으로 한 수학 멘토링

국문 초록

탈북학생들의 국내 유입이 꾸준히 이루어지고 있는 시점에 고교졸업반 탈북학생들을 위해 방과 후 수학 멘토링제가 면대면의 정기적 만남을 통해 2017년 1학기동안 실시되었다. 여섯명의 졸업반 학생들(멘티)의 진로설계에 도움을 주고자 수학예비교사(멘토) 중심으로 실시한 멘토링으로 멘티들의 수학학습에서의 변화뿐만 아니라 인성측면의 어려움을 조사하였다. 혼합연구로써 자료수집은 멘토가 작성한 구조적 심화설문지와 선행연구를 바탕으로 수정 보완한 58문항의 인식검사지를 사용하여 이루어졌다. 수학학습에서는 맞춤형 수업을 통해 복소수, 지수․로그 함수, 그리고 기하와 벡터에서 수학 개념과 절차에 대한 각 멘티들의 오류나 습관이 개선되었고, 인성측면에서는 멘티와 멘토의 유대관계가 멘토들을 친구 또는 형, 동생으로 생각하는 정도로 형성되어 멘티들을 위한 진로설계가 상담가와 같은 수준으로 구체적으로 이루어졌다. 멘토들의 변화는 교수법, 교육과정 영역에 대한 이해가 구체적으로 진술되었으며, 예비교사 인성의 하위요소인 나, 타인, 집단의 이해가 나를 되돌아보는 계기를 통해 다문화적이며 바람직한 방향으로 나타났다. 또한 사전사후 인식검사지에 의한 멘토그룹의 멘토링의 효과는 통계적으로 유의미하게 나타났기로 이런 멘토링 제도가 미래 통일시대를 준비하기 위한 인재양성과 사범대학 재학생들의 교사교육을 위해서도 활성화되어야 할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Recently, the number of North Korean students increases in South Korea. For six senior high-school students of North Korean defectors, a mentoring program was provided for helping their mathematical learning and positive perception over characters during the first semester, 2017. The data were collected by two instruments such as an in-depth questionnaire for the qualitative analysis and 58 items of pre & post tests for the quantitative analysis, filled out by the mentors. In learning of mathematics, they had little understanding on dealing of algebraic procedures such as the areas of the complex number, exponential & logarithm functions, and geometry & vector, but they had an opportunity to correct their mathematical errors. Through the in-depth questionnaire focused on investigating characters, it is found that mentors and mentees relationship showing some closeness like treating each other a friend, a brother or sister was built through the mentoring. Especially, the mentors, pre-service teachers who were freshmen in the university, changed their perception positively toward themselves, others, and a community they belonged to in enhancing their character. They described that the experiences with North Korean defectors helped to rebuild good characters as prospective teachers and enabled to propose some realistic ideas for these needy students in terms of curricula, teaching methods, etc. Also the result of analysis by Wilcoxon s matched-pairs signed-ranks test, showed the mentor groups were significantly improved their perception.
