영문 초록

The concept of transference in psychoanalysis has changed since Freud first described it in the Dora case study. The traditional concept of transference has been that transference is to expericnce feelings, drives, attitudes, fantasies, and defenses toward a person in the present which do not befit that person but are a repetition of reactions originating from significant persons in the early childhood. In modern psychoanalysis, transference is now considered as a new experience of the patient receiving psychotherapy or psychoanalysis in addition to re-experience past events between the patient and his/her significant persons in his/her early life. Transference interpretation is the most powerful tool to make patients’ unconscious material become conscious. Thus, adequate use of transference interpretation is essential in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. When and how to make this interpretation is very important. Further, negative transference should be analyzed in advance of positive transference. Repetitive interpretation rather than a single interpretation is essential during the working through phase to ensure effective transference interpretation.
