국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국, 미국, 캐나다, 영국, 호주의 예술고등학교의 음악과 교육과정을 다각적으로 분석하여 국내 예술고등학교의 음악과 교육과정 개혁에 기여하는 것이다. 한국을 포함하여 미국, 캐나다, 영국, 호주의 각 나라에서 2개교씩 선정하여 총 10개교의 예술고등학교 교육과정을 분석하였으며 이에 대한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육목표에서 한국은 예술인 육성에 초점을 맞추고 있는 반면, 미국과 캐나다는 교육 환경을, 캐나다와 호주에서는 전인적 발달을, 영국에서는 최고의 교육 제공, 평등한 교육, 잠재력 발현 등의 다양한 관점으로 교육목표를 설정하고 있다. 둘째, 미국과 영국에서는 클래식뿐만 아니라 재즈, 음악 공학, 그리고 호주에서는 전자 음악의 전공 또한 강조하고 있었다. 셋째, 모든 외국의 예술고등학교에서는 실기고사뿐만 아니라 인터뷰를 추가 실시하며, 영국과 호주에서는 음악성 관련 시험과 입학시험 등을 추가로 실시하였다. 실기 곡을 분석한 결과, 한국과 다르게 대부분의 외국에서는 2곡 이상의 대조적인 스타일의 자유곡을 요구하고 있었다. 넷째, 음악과 개설 전공 교과목을 살펴보면 한국에 비해대부분의 외국에서는 다양한 교과목을 제공하며, 세분화된 이론 과목을 제공하는 특징이 있었다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this study is to contribute to the reform of the music education and curriculum in Korean arts high schools through various analysis on the cases in Korea, the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia. 10 in all, respectively 2 arts high schools from Korea, the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia were selected, then the music curriculums of theirs were analyzed, and the followings show the conclusions. First, while Korea’s curriculum, especially focuses on the cultivation of artists, that of overseas countries tends to set up the educational purpose in multiple aspects such as holistic growth, environment emphasis, supply of the best education, equal education and expression of potential. Second, Korean schools generally tend to force the students to major in the instruments of classical music and the orchestra, whereas the specialties of jazz, music engineering and electronic music are also being highlighted by the schools in overseas countries. Third, the entrance process of Korean schools is basically comprised of application, practical test and the announcement. However, that of overseas schools tends to be comprised of interview, music or entrance exam, and two practical tests. Regarding the songs of the practical tests, Korean students perform a designated song or a free song they choose, foreign students, meanwhile, are asked to perform more than 2 free songs with contrasting styles. This indicates that the arts schools in overseas countries allow the right of the students to choose the songs. Fourth, overseas schools tend to offer relatively more various subjects to their students than Korean schools do. Also, they have some subjects for more experiences and detailed music theory.
