영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine various patterns of artificial responses in the MMPI profile and its interpretability, and consequently to improve the validity of MMPI as a diagnostic tool. Three types of artificial responses are identified as follows： random response, social conformity or non-conformity, and all yes or all no response. The data of random response were obtained from 30 male and 30 female hypothetical cases by using a table of randon numbers. The data of social conformity and non-conformity response obtained from 200 normal subjects (M =118, F= 82 ) Any item that was responded in a same direction in more than 50% of the responses was counted as social conformity response and any item that was, responded in a same direction in less than 50% of the responses was regarded as social non-conformity response. The profiles of these responses were as follows： (1) Random responses, social non-conformity, and all yes responses suggested “psychotic pattern” with an extremely high elevation on F scale. (2) AIl no responses showed highly defensive “neurotic, tendency” with highly elevated L, & K scales and relatively high F scale. This study suggested that artificial response profiles postulated theoretically invalid were to be useful psychodiagnostic cue in clinical practice.
