영문 초록

The twelve patients with postpartum psychoses were evaluated for clinical features from 1974 to 1979 and the following results were obtained. 1) The admission rate of postpartum psychoses among total hospitalized patients was 0.37%. The ratio of affective to schizophrenic disorder among postpartum psychoses was 1.4 : 1. The average age was 29.5 years old. Of these cases, eight patients were primiparas and four were multiparas. 2) Regarding the onset of symptoms, nine out of twelve patients developed symptom swithin four weeks follow ing the delivery. 3) The average duration of hospitalization for acute schizophrenic episode was 13.3 days, while 17 days for unipolar depression. 4) Six out of twelve patients recovered completely, while the others also improved although clinical courses were variable. One patient showed rapidly changing manic and depressive symptoms
