국문 초록

본 연구는 성인이 인식하는 발달과업을 규명하고 발달과업의 중요도와 성취수준을 통해 성인의 교육요구를 도출하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이에 성인의 발달과업 이론과 관련 선행 연구를 통해 영역별 발달과업을 도출하고 성인 700명을 대상으로 한국 성인이 인식하는 발달과업의 중요도와 성취수준을 조사하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석을 위해서는 빈도분석을 활용하여 성인이 인식하는 발달과업과 성취수준을 파악하고, t-검정, Borich 요구도, The Locus for Focus 모델을 활용하여 성인이 인식하는 발달과업에 따른 교육 요구를 도출하였다. 이와 같은 연구절차를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국의 성인이 인식하는 발달과업 분석결과 과업과 내용 측면에서 과거에 제시된 발달과업과 큰 차이를 보이지는 않았으나, 중요하다고 인식하는 수준이나 그 시기에 있어서는 무자녀 부부나 1인 가구의 증가, 여가시간의 증대, 조기은퇴, 경제적 스트레스, 경력개발, 여성의 사회참여 증대 등 복잡한 현대 사회의 특성이 반영되는 현상이 뚜렷이 나타나고 있었다. 둘째, 한국의 성인이 인식하는 발달과업의 중요도와 성취수준 분석결과 연령별로 세부 과업에는 차이가 있었으나 전 연령대에서 가족생활영역과 개인생활 영역에서 과업 수행에 있어 교육 요구가 높게 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify Korean adults’ educational needs by exploring their perception of the importance of developmental tasks and their achievement level on those tasks. To this purpose, a survey was conducted with 700 Korean adults to identify the perceived importance of developmental tasks, the level of achievement of them, and types and level of educational participation. The data were analysed in several ways using paired t-test, Borich’s need assessment model, and the Locus for Focus model. The results and conclusions are as follows: First, as a result of analysing the developmental tasks of Korean adults, it is found that the contents of the tasks generally correspond with those presented by previous studies, but the complexity of the modern society has been reflected on those tasks and the individual’s life cycle has been diversified. In addition it is found that adults have difficulties in designing their life cycle due to the differences between the perceived importance level and the achievement level. Second, according to the results of the educational need analysis, it turns out that educational needs on these two sectors are needed as the first priority. Therefore it is required to develop educational programs considering adults’ life cycle and their difficulties in conducting some tasks.
