영문 초록

Records of 50 hospitalized cancer patients referred for psychiatric consultation were studied. The sample for this study was drawn from the inpatient populations of the cancer unit at St. Marys Hospital and Kangnam St. Marys Hospital from March 1, 1987 to August 31，1987. Some of the findings were summarized as follows : 1) The rate of psychiatric consultations for the cancer patients was 13%. 2) Of the reasons for the psychiatric consultation, depressed mood and control of specific symptoms accounted for more than half of the reasons. 3) Forty-four percent of the consulted cancer patients met the DSM-III criteria for adjustment disorder with depressed mood which was the most common diagnosis, followed by organic mental disorder. 4) There were no statistically significant differences in BDI & SAS between the cancer patients and the hemodialysis patients. 5) psychopharmacologic interventions were applied in 64% of the consulted cancer patients, while supportive psychotherapy without the administration of psychotropic drugs was applied in 36% of the patients.
