영문 초록

The authors studied the relationship of the serum immunoglobulin levels with the psychotic symptoms in 36 male chronic schizophrenic patients. The 36 subjects were divided into positive, negative, and mixed subgroups according to the criteria of Andreasen and 01sen( 1982). These patients were evaluated by the positive and negative symptom scales of Lewin and Meltzer(l983), and BPRS. Serum immunoglobulin levels were measured by single radio immunodiffusion method. The results were as follows * 1) The mean levels of serum IgG, IgM, IgA in schizophrenic patients were higher than those of normal controls, but there was no statistical significance. There was also no significant difference among the positive, negative, and mixed subgroups. 2) The severity of the psychotic symptoms measured by BPRS and the presence of hallucinations and delusions was not related significantly to the mean levels of IgG, IgM, IgA. 3) The serum IgM levels in the group with high negative symptom scale score were significantly higher than those in the group with low negative symptom scale score(F=2.8, p<0.1). The correlation of the serum IgM levels to the positive symptom scale score was borderline significant(r二 —0.40，p〈0.1). There are some evidences of neuroendocrinologic and immunologic relationship with psychiatric illness, and then it seems necessary to extend further research in this area.
