희생제의, 사회적 부채 그리고 호혜주의

국문 초록

이 논문은 전통적인 상호주의가 동등한 노동 교환을 하지 않는 사람을 배제하고, 어려운 사람에 대한 지원을 시혜와 은총으로 은폐시키는 경향이 있음을 폭로한다. 실업자, 잉여인력, 낙오자, 기생충이라 불리는 이들은 자본주의 경제, 사회, 국가, 지배계급의 유지를 위해 부득이하게 희생된 희생제물이며 체제를 지속하고 유지하기 위해서는 이들에게 시혜와 은총이 아닌 정당한 비용 지불인 관대한 지출이 이루어져야 함을 주장한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 자유주의적 관점의 상호주의 한계를 극복하고자 Mauss의 증여론과 Girard의 희생제의 그리고 홉스의 보호와 복종의 사회계약 관점에서 상호주의를 논의한다. 희생자들은 개인의 의지와 선택보다 사회, 경제, 기업, 국가 체제를 유지하기 위해 희생된 사람들이기에 이들에 대한 보호 없이 체제 유지는 불가능할 수밖에 없다. 이에 위험 분산의 사회보험, 소득지원 정책은 계급간 사회의 평화, 구성원 간의 신뢰와 믿음, 그리고 희생자에 대한 보은의 장치로 작동하는 정당한 사회계약임을 주장한다.

영문 초록

This paper reveals that traditional reciprocity has excluded the people who do not carry out an equivalent exchanges and disguised the policy support for the disabled as charity and grace. Those who are labeled as unemployed, parasites, and losers are sacrificial lambs who have been sacrificed for the maintenance of the capitalist economic and social systems, state, and the ruling class. In order to sustain and maintain the regime, this paper insists that there should not be charity and grace but rather generous expenditures of legitimate costs. To overcome the limitations of the liberal view on reciprocity, this study examines reciprocity through the lens of Mauss's gift theory, Girard's sacrificial ritual system, and Hobbes's social contract of protection and submission. The sacrificed, because they were sacrificed to maintain social, economic, corporate, and state systems rather than due to individual will, competence and choice, Without social protection for these people, the social and economic system and regime can never be sustained. We propose that social insurance, as a mechanism risk sharing and income support, could serve to promote social peace among classes, build trust and faith among members, and compensation for victims.
