식품사막 현상의 공간적 접근 - 전북 지역의 사례와 함의

국문 초록

본 연구는 전북 지역을 대상으로 지리정보시스템(GIS)과 공간통계분석을 활용하여 식품사막의 공간적 분포와 형성 요인을 분석하였다. 식품사막은 건강한 신선 식품에 대한 물리적·경제적 접근성이 현저히 떨어지는 지역을 의미하며, 이를 확인하기 위해 본 연구에서는 전북 지역의 읍면동 단위로 식품소매업 분포, 경제활동인구수, 고령인구수, 부동산 공시지가, 기초생활수급권자 분포 등의 데이터를 수집하여 공간적 자기상관 분석과 공간회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 식품소매업 분포는 공시지가와 양(+)의 상관관계를 보여주 었으며, 이는 지역의 경제적 활성화 수준이 식품 접근성에 큰 영향을 미침을나타낸다. 그외 경제활동인구수, 고령인구수, 기초생활수급권자 분포 역시 식 품소매업 분포에 미치는 시사점이 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 농촌 지역의 식품사막 문제가 단순한 물리적 접근성의 문제가 아니라 지역경제 활성화, 교통인프라 개선, 사회적 지원 등 복합적인 요인에 의해 형성된다는 것을 시사한다. 따라서 식품사막 해소를 위해서는 경제 활성화를 통한 상업 인프라 구축, 교통 인프라 개선, 취약지역 지원 및 지역 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 정책 수립이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the spatial distribution and formation factors of food deserts in Jeonbuk-state, South Korea, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial statistical analysis. Data on the distribution of food retail stores, the number of economically active population, elderly population, official land prices, and the distribution of basic livelihood security recipients were collected at the township level. Spatial autocorrelation analysis and spatial regression analysis were conducted. The results revealed a strong positive correlation between the distribution of food retail stores and official land prices, indicating that the level of regional economic activity significantly affects food accessibility. In contrast, the number of economically active population, elderly population, and the distribution of basic livelihood security recipients did not have statistically significant effects on the distribution of food retail stores. These findings suggest that the issue of food deserts in rural areas is not merely a matter of physical accessibility but is formed through complex factors such as regional economic activation, improvement of transportation infrastructure, and social support. Therefore, to alleviate food deserts, it is necessary to build commercial infrastructure through economic revitalization, improve transportation infrastructure, support vulnerable areas, and establish tailored policies that consider regional characteristics.
