국문 초록

이 연구는 재외 한국학 전공 대학생의 남북한 통일문제에 대한 인식을 분석하고, 공 공외교의 관점에서 효과적인 해외 대학생 대상 통일교육을 실행하는데 필요한 시사점 을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 미국 D대학교의 한국학 전공학생에 대한 면담을 실시했다. 재외 한국학 전공학생들은 한국의 대중문화에 대한 관심을 계기로 한반도 문 제에 관심을 가지게 되었고, 학업 연한 및 개인의 관심 수준에 따라 한반도 문제에 대한 상이한 이해 수준을 보였다. 한반도 통일 가능성에 대한 부정적 인식을 보였고, 한반도 문제에 대한 국제적 영향력은 제한적이라는 의견을 제시했다. 연구 결과, 공공외교 관점에서 재외 한국학 전공 대학생 대상 통일교육의 효과적 실 행을 위해 첫째, 이들이 한반도 문제에 대한 균형있는 이해를 제고할 수 있게 하기 위한 내용 방안을 수립하는 것이 필요하다. 둘째, 국제 문제로서 한반도 문제에 대한 이해를 제고할 수 있는 내용적 접근 방안의 수립이 필요하다. 셋째, 한반도 문제에 대한 체계적 인 이해를 제고하는데 필요한 학습 기회의 양적 질적 확대가 필요하다. 넷째, 재외 한국 학 전공학생의 흥미, 관심을 고려한 다양한 콘텐츠의 개발 및 보급이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of Korean reunification issues by foreign university students majoring in Korean Studies abroad and to derive implications for implementing effective unification education from a public diplomacy perspective. For the purpose of this study were interviews conducted with Korean Studies majors at D University in the United States. The results of the study indicate that foreign university students majoring in Korean Studies abroad have a negative perception of the possibility of Korean reunification and believe that international influence on the Korean Peninsula issue is limited. They developed an interest in the Korean Peninsula issue through their interest in Korean popular culture, and their understanding of the issue varied depending on their years of study and level of personal interest. The research results suggest the following implications for the effective implementation of unification education for them: First, it is necessary to establish content strategies that enhance a balanced understanding of the Korean Peninsula issue for foreign university students majoring in Korean Studies abroad. Second, content strategies that can enhance understanding of the Korean Peninsula issue as an international issue need to be developed. Third, it is necessary to quantitatively and qualitatively expand learning opportunities that enhance expertise on the Korean Peninsula issue. Fourth, it is necessary to develop and disseminate diverse content that considers the interests and concerns of overseas Korean Studies majors.
