경찰 바디캠에 대한 지각된 용이성과 지각된 유용성 탐색 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 “어떠한 요인들이 경찰 바디캠의 사용의도에 영향을 미치는지”를 이론적으로 탐색해 본다는 점에서 연구 의의가 있다. 또한, 바디캠 사용 동기를 인과적 조건으로, 112신고 처리를 위한 경찰의 바디캠 사용의도를 “근거이론”을 통해 질적 연구로 확인한다는 특징이 있다. 특히, 이 연구에서는 인과적 조건을 계기로 하여 중심 현상인 경찰이 바디캠을 사용하게 되는 과정에서 나타나는 지각된 용이성과 유용성이 경찰 바디캠의 사용의도에 미치는 영향을 파악하는 데 주력했다. 총 9명의 경찰관을 상대로 2023년 12월 12일부터 12월 31일까지 심층 면접을 진행했다. 심층면접 결과, 지각된 유용성은 높은 수준을 유지하였고, 시범운영에서 낮게 나타난 지각된 용이성도 자비로 구매한 바디캠에 대해서는 비교적 높게 나타났다. 기술수용모델을 적용한 연구결과를 바탕으로 경찰 외 다른 기관에서도 개별 조직 문화와 직무 특성을 고려하여 ‘지각된 유용성’과 ‘지각된 용이성’을 높이는 대책이 필요하다고 하겠다. 추가로, ‘지각된 용이성’의 범주에는 ‘객관적으로 충분한 성능’이 부정적 영향을 미치고 있었다. ‘지각된 유용성’의 범주에는 ‘자기방어’와 ‘심리적 안정감’이라는 개념들이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study aims at investigating key factors that are associated with behavioral intention to use police body-worn camera. In particular, this study focuses on examining perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of police body-worn camera by conducting interviews toward nine police officers in South Korea. The applications of police body-worn camera has dramatically increased since 112 police hot-line report system was regarded as significant tool of enforcing law in the community. Few researches have been conducted to identify the relevant factors that are related the perception of police in terms of their perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness for the body-worn camera. This present study used qualitative research method which is based on grounded theory and attempted to focus on exploring perception of police body-worn camera by emphasizing key factors of the perception. Besides, this study conducted in-depth interviews toward nine police officers by utilizing the framework of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Results showed that intention to use the body-worn camera was so prevalent that police think that the body-worn camera can be widely applied to the other criminal justice sectors. In this context, it is necessary to consider the new ways of improving high effectiveness body-worn camera. More importantly, perceived ease of use was more likely to be associated with the objective level of effectiveness of body-worn camera, while perceived usefulness of police was more prone to be related to psychological self-defense mechanism of police officers. Further policy implications will be discussed.
