남성 전문상담교사가 학교현장에서 경험하는 어려움에 대한 현상학적 질적연구

국문 초록

연구목적 본 연구는 학교에서 상담업무를 수행하고 있는 남성 전문상담교사가 경험하는 학교 상담 현장에서의 어려움들을 살펴본 현상학적 연구이다. 연구방법 전문상담교사 1급 또는 2급 자격증을 소지하고 최근 3년 이내의 학교상담에서의 경험이 있는 남성 전문상담교사 8명을 모집하여 반구조화된 면담을 실시하였으며, Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과 분석결과, 29개의 의미단위와 12개의 하위범주, 5개의 상위범주가 도출되었다. 상위범주로는 ‘남성상담자로서 경험하는 편견에 대한 불편감’, ‘여학생과의 상담에서 겪는 당혹감’, ‘상담교사에 대한 잘못된 인식을 접할 때의 씁쓸함’, ‘남성상담교사에게 부여되는 다중역할로 인한 혼란’, ‘학교상담의 현실에 대한 괴리감과 자괴감’으로 총 5개의 상위범주가 발견되었다. 결론 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 남성 전문상담교사들이 경험하는 특수한 어려움들이 확인되었으며, 이를 제도적으로 보완하기 위한 방안들에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the lived experience of male school counselors‘ difficulties in the field of school counseling. Methods: Eight male school counselors who had level 1 or level 2 school counselor certification with school counseling experiences within 3 years were recruited. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and data were analyzed using Giorgi’s phenomenological inquiry. Results: A total of five categories and twelve subcategories were found as results. Five categories were 'Discomfort due to prejudice as a male counselor', 'Embarrassment in counseling with female students', 'Bitterness of encountering misconceptions about counselors', 'Confusion over the multiple roles assigned to male counselors', 'Feeling of shame from the reality of school counseling'. Conclusion: Based on these findings, the unique difficulties of male professional counselors were identified and ways to deal with these difficulties were discussed.
