명예퇴직 여성 교원이 경험하는 삶의 적응 과정에 관한 근거이론적 접근

국문 초록

연구목적 본 연구는 여성 교원이 명예퇴직 후 어떠한 경험을 하고 어떠한 과정을 거쳐 삶에 적응하는지 그 과정을 탐구하여 설명하기 위한 연구목적을 가진다. 이에 따라 연구문제는 첫째, 명예퇴직 여성 교원이 경험하는 삶은 어떠하며, 그 어려움은 무엇인가? 둘째, 명예퇴직 여성 교원이 경험하는 적응 과정과 적응 유형은 어떠한가로 제시하였다. 연구방법 이를 위해 Strauss와 Corbin(1998)의 근거이론 방법론을 사용하였고 이론적 표집으로 연구 참여자를 선정하여 최근 3년 이내의 명예퇴직을 경험한 여성 교원 11명을 대상으로 반구조화 질문지와 심층 면담을 실시하여 원자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과 개방 코딩에서는 483개의 개념과 118개의 하위범주, 21개의 범주가 도출하였다. 그 결과, 인과적 조건은 ‘교직 생활 유지의 한계를 경험함’, 중심 현상은 ‘소속이 없는 일반인으로 살아가기’, 맥락적 조건은 ‘퇴직자로서의 삶을 수용하고 전환하기’, 작용·상호작용 전략은 ‘자아통합의 과정으로 접어들게 됨’이며, 결과는 ‘서서히 자아실현 욕구를 충족시켜 나감’으로 나타났다. 선택코딩에서 도출된 핵심 범주는 ‘삶의 변화에 대한 수용과 자기성찰을 통해 안정적인 노년기로 진입한 후 성숙한 자아실현의 단계로 나아감’이며 ‘도입기’, ‘혼란기’, ‘변화기’, ‘실현기’의 적응 단계를 거치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 명예퇴직 여성 교원의 퇴직 이후 적응에 대한 이론적 틀을 제시함으로써 명예퇴직 여성 교원에 관한 활발한 연구와 퇴직 적응프로그램 개발에 유용한 도구로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore and explain the experiences that honorably retired female teachers have after retirement and the process by which they adapt to life. Accordingly, the research questions are: First, what is the life experienced by honorably retired female teachers, and what are the difficulties? Second, what are the adaptation processes and types of adaptation experienced by honorably retired female teachers? Methods: To this end, we used the grounded theory methodology of Strauss and Corbin (1998), selected research participants through theoretical sampling, conducted semi-structured questionnaires and in- depth interviews with eleven female teachers who had experienced honorable retirement within the past three years, and analyzed the raw data. Results: Open coding resulted in 483 concepts, 118 subcategories, and 21 categories. As a result, the causal condition was 'experiencing the limits of maintaining a teaching career', the central phenomenon was 'living as an ordinary person without any affiliation', and the contextual condition was 'accepting and transitioning to life as a retiree', action/interaction strategy was 'entering the process of self- integration', and the result was 'gradually satisfying the need for self-actualization'. The core categories derived from selective coding are 'entering a stable old age through acceptance of changes in life and self-reflection and then advancing to the stage of mature self-realization'. It was found to go through an adaptation stage of 'introduction period', 'confusion period', 'change period', and 'actualization period'. Conclusion: By presenting a theoretical framework for the post-retirement adaptation of honorably retired female teachers, it is expected to be used as a useful tool in active research on honorably retired female teachers and in the development of retirement adaptation programs.
