자살위기를 경험한 청년의 살아감에 관한 질적연구: Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 자살위기청년의 살아감의 의미와 본질을 탐색하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 20~30대 자살시도 경험이 있는 청년 6명을 대상으로 일대일심층면접을 실시하였으며, Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 활용하여 질적자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 자살위기청년의 살아감의 의미는 27개의 의미 단위와 9개의 하위 주제, 4개의 상위 주제로 도출되었다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 4개의 상위 주제는 ‘궤도이탈한 삶’, ‘극점에 다다른 절망’, ‘희망의 빛’, ‘여전한 삶과 죽음의 경계선’이며, 이를 중심으로 자살위기청년의 살아감에 관한 본질적 구조인 ‘한 발 외줄타기’를 발견하였다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 청년 자살예방을 위한 함의에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning and essence of life for young adults in a suicide crisis. To do this, in-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with six young adults in their 20s and 30s who have attempted suicide, and qualitative data analysis was performed using Giorgi’s phenomenological research method. Study findings revealed 27 unites of meaning, 9 sub-themes, and 4 main themes regarding the meaning of life for young adults at risk of suicide. These four main themes identified in this study are ‘life off the track’, ‘despair at the extremes’, ‘light of hope’, ‘the persistent boundary between life and death’ Through these themes, a fundamental structure of ‘walking on a tightrope’ regarding the meaning of life for young adults at risk of suicide was discovered. Based on these findings, this study discussed the implications aimed at preventing suicide of young adults.
