국문 초록

본 연구는 필요조건분석(Necessary Condition Analysis: NCA) 방법론을 이용하여 제도, 인적자원 및 연구, 인프라, 시장 성숙도, 사업 성숙도 등의 다섯 개의 혁신 원인조건과 혁신 성과 간의 필요조건 여부와 필요성 정도를 분석하였다. NCA 분석 결과에 의하면, 다섯 개의 원인조건은 지식 및 기술 성과라는 혁신 성과와 창의적 성과라는 혁신 성과에 모두 필요조건이었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 최근에 다양한 분야에서 많이 활용되고 있는 NCA 분석을 통해 혁신 성과에 영향을 미치는 혁신 원인조건의 필요성 논리를 분석한 최초의 연구라는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다. 또한 본 연구는 NCA 분석을 통해 혁신 성과에 ‘필요하지만 충분하지 않은’ 선행조건을 탐색하고, 회귀분석을 통해 ‘충분하지만 필요하지 않은’ 혁신 성과의 원인조건을 확인하였다는 점에서 NCA 방법론과 회귀분석 방법이 상호보완적으로 사용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the kind and degree of necessity logics between five innovation antecedents and innovation performance of the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2022, using the necessary condition analysis (NCA). The NCA results showed that all five causal conditions - institutions, human resources and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, and business sophistication - were necessary for the innovation outcome such as knowledge and technology outputs and the creative outputs. This study is the first attempt to analyze the necessity logic of innovation causal antecedents that affect innovation performance through NCA methodology, which has been widely used in various fields in recent years. This study also confirms that NCA and regression methodologies can be used complementarily, as NCA analysis explores ‘necessary but not sufficient’ causal antecedents for innovation performance, and regression analysis identifies ‘sufficient but not necessary’ causal conditions for innovation performance.
