국문 초록

이 논문은 초등학교 사회과 교육과정 관행에서 지역 만들기의 전략에 관한사례 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 자료는 5차 교육과정 시기부터 2015개정 교육과정 시기까지의 제주 지역교과서이다. 분석 결과, 사례 지역의 교과서에서는 교육과정 시기별로 차별적인 교재구성방식을 보여주었다. 교과서의 표지에 나타나고 있는 지역의 대표 경관과 단원의 배치 양상이 시기마다 다른 모습이 나타났다. 아울러, 지역의 문화경관을 선정하고 배치하는 방식에서도시기별로 차별적이었다. 사례 교과서에서는 지역의 토착적인 문화경관을 중심으로 일관성 있게 교재 구성을 시도하고 있지는 않았다. 요컨대, 사례 지역에서 지역의 고유성을 교재화하는 방식은 의미의 경합 상태인데, 향후에는사례 지역만의 고유한 콘텐츠가 보다 더 강조될 필요가 있다. 즉, 교육과정의지역화 시도는 교육과정 의사결정 상황이었고, 합리적인 숙의 과정이 뒤따라야 함을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This paper conducted a case study on the strategy of inventing region in elementary school social studies curriculum practices in Korea. The research materials are regional textbooks published in the Jeju area from the 5th curriculum period to the 2015 revised curriculum period. As a result of the analysis, textbooks in the case region showed different methods of composing textbooks for each curriculum period. The representative landscapes of the region and the layout of the units that appeared on the covers of textbooks varied from period to period. In addition, the methods of selecting and arranging regional cultural landscapes were also differentiated by period. In the case of regional textbooks, there was no consistent attempt to construct textbooks centering on the indigenous cultural landscape. In short, converting the region's uniqueness into a textbook in the case area was a state of competing meanings. In the future, the unique content of the case region needs to be more emphasized. In other words, it was confirmed that the attempt to localize the curriculum was a curriculum decision-making situation, and a rational process of deliberation should follow.
