보더리스 세대(Borderless generation)가 바라본 스포츠의 가치와 참여방식

국문 초록

본 연구는 디지털 환경에서 태어나 국경없는, 사회관계망서비스(SNS)에 익숙한 Z세대의 세대 특성을 표현하는 용어 중 하나인 보더리스(Borderless)세대를 대상으로 스포츠 참여방식과 가치를 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 보더리스 세대라 할 수 있는 1994년에서 2004년 사이에 출생한 20대 중 2년 이상 스포츠 활동에 참여한 대상자를 선정하였다. 이들을 대상으로 2023년 1월부터 10월까지 스포츠 활동 과정을 참여 관찰과 심층 면담 방법을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 이러한 연구 방법을 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 보더리스 세대는 스포츠를 처음 접할 때부터 정보를 적극적으로 활용하고 스포츠 활동을 하는 과정에서도 정보 의존이 큰 특성을 갖는다. 둘째, 보더리스 세대는 스포츠 활동을 위해 온라인 연결성을 강화하며 자신의 실력과 성향에 맞는 다양한 사람과의 교류를 확대해 나간다. 셋째, 보더리스 세대는 디지털 환경과 정보 활용 능력을 적극적으로 활용하여 전문화된 스포츠 활동을 해 나간다. 넷째, 보더리스 세대는 문화적 경험과 개방성을 바탕으로 경계 없는 스포츠 활동을 해 나간다. 다섯째, 보더리스 세대는 그들의 세대 특성을 바탕으로 스포츠 활동에 높은 충성도와 몰입도를 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the methods and values of sports participation among the borderless generation, one of the terms expressing the generational characteristics of Generation Z, who were born in a digital environment and are familiar with borderless social networking services (SNS). To achieve this research purpose, we selected subjects who had participated in and experienced sports activities for more than two years among the 20 born between 1994 and 2004, which can be considered the borderless generation. Data were collected from these individuals through participant observation and in-depth interviews on their sports activities from January to October 2023. The results obtained through this research method are as follows. First, the borderless generation actively uses information from the time they first encounter sports and is highly dependent on information during sports activities. Second, the borderless generation strengthens online connectivity for sports activities and expands interactions with a variety of people who match their skills and tendencies. Third, the borderless generation actively utilizes the digital environment and information literacy to engage in specialized sports activities. Fourth, the borderless generation engages in borderless sports activities based on cultural experience and openness. Fifth, the borderless generation shows high loyalty and immersion in sports activities based on their generational characteristics.
