국문 초록

키릴과 네스토리우스 사이의 문제는, 비록 데오토코스라는 용어가 문제의 발단이 되기는 했지만, 근본적인 차이를 가지고 있었다. 데오토코스에 대한 집중은결국 둘 사이의 신학적 이해를 바르게 하지 못하도록 했다. 데오토코스는 공의회에서 승인된 용어이며, 문제는 키릴과 네스토리우스 사이의 신학적인 문제에 있다. 첫째, physis와 hypostasis의 문제인데, 키릴은 아폴리나우스주의자가 아니었지만, 키릴의 실수에 대한 네스토리우스의 비난에 근거하여 하르낙은 키릴을 아폴리나리우스주의자로 비판하였다. 둘째, 연합에 대한 문제에서 둘은 서로 다른용어와 의미를 사용하였다. 키릴은 ‘헤노시스’를 네스토리우스는 ‘쉰아페이아’ 였다. 그러나 쉰아페이아는 ‘위격적 연합을 의미하는 것’이 아니고, 두 가지 전혀다른 실체들의 연합을 의미할 때 사용하는 것이다. 셋째, 그리스도의 수난의 이해. 네스토리우스의 수난의 문제 역시 ‘두 우시아이와 두 페르조나이’와 연결된다. 이에 따라 네스토리우스는 키릴이 주장한 그리스도의 수난에 대한 문제를‘성부수난설’로 비판하였으나, 도리어 네스토리우스의 신학의 문제점이 여기서 등장하게 되는데, 그리스도의 수난은 그리스도가 취한 한 사람이 받은 수난(네스토리우스)이 아니라, 로고스가 그리스도로서 받으신 수난(키릴)이라는 측면에 대한 문제이다. 결론적으로 키릴과 네스토리우스 사이의 신학의 문제는 ‘데오토코스’의 문제가 아니라, 그리스도의 신성과 인성의 연합에 대한 신학적 문제였다. 따라서 개혁신학은 네스토리우스의 신학을 수용하지 않았다.

영문 초록

The problem between Cyril and Nestorius, although the term Theotokos was the source of the problem, had a fundamental difference. The focus on Theotokos eventually prevented a proper theological understanding between the two. Theotokos is a term approved by the Council, and the real problem is a theological difference between Cyril and Nestorius. First, in problem of using of the greek terms of physis and hypostasis, Cyril was not an Apollinarian, but Harnack criticized Cyril as an Apollinarian based on Nestorius’ accusations of Cyril's mistakes. Second, in the matter of the union of two natures, the two use different terms and meaning. Cyril has ‘Henosis’ and Nestorius has ‘Synapheia’. However, ‘Synapheia’ does not mean ‘hypostatic union’, but is used to mean the conjunction of two completely different entities. Third, in the issue of the suffering of Christ, Nestorius is also connected to the ‘two Usiai and the two Personai’. Nestorius criticized Cyril's statement about the Passion of Christ as ‘Patripassianist’, but the problem of Nestorius’ theology appears here. the Passion of Christ is not ‘the suffering of one taken by Christ’(Nestorius), but the suffering that the Logos received as Christ(Cyril). In conclusion, the problem of theology between Cyril and Nestorius is not the problem of ‘Theotokos’, but the theological problem of the union of Christ’s divinity and humanity, so the Reformed theology did not accept Nestorius’ theology.
