텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 한국과 일본의 ESG 경영 현황 비교

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국과 일본의 유가증권시장 상장기업 중 시가총액 1위부터 3위까지 기업의 지속가능경영보고서를 텍스트마이닝 기법을 활용하여 키워드 데이터를 수집하고 워드크라우드 분석, 빈도분석, 에고네트워크 및 N-gram 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 한국에 비해 높은 ESG 투자 금액을 확보하고 있는 일본과의 이슈 비교를 통해 여러 연구에서 ESG 경영 관련 투자 규모 및 역사적 측면에 기반하여 ESG 경영선진국으로 언급된 일본기업과 한국 기업의 ESG경영 이슈를 비교 분석하였다. 또한 사회구조 및 제도와 산업화 과정이 유사한 일본의 ESG 경영 방향을 통해 한국의 미래 ESG 경영 방향성을 예측하고 한국 기업이 나아갈 방향을 제시함에 있다. 분석 결과, 일본과 한국의 ESG 이슈를 확인할 수 있는 키워드 출현 빈도분석에서 한국과 일본이 유사하게 나왔으며 키워드 빈도 및 중요도가 높게 나온 키워드 중 management(경영), employee(직원의), environmental(환경)과 동시 출연 빈도가 높은 키워드를 분석해보았다. 그 결과 경영 키워드는 유사함을 나타냈으며 employee(직원) 키워드에서 보육, 다양성 키워드가 일본 분석 결과에서 동시 출현 키워드로 나옴을 확인하였다. 한국의 경우 환경, 직원 경영 키워드에서 supplier(공급자) 키워드가 확인이 되었다. 또 연결키워드 빈도를 확인할 수 있는 N-gram 분석 결과 일본 분석 결과에서 한국에 비해 거버넌스 관련 키워드가 빈도수가 높게 나옴을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 선진국 대기업과의 직접 비교를 통해 한국의 ESG 경영의 방향 문헌 연구와 키워드 분석을 통해 비교하고 국내 기업이 나아갈 방향 및 보완점을 제시하였다는 점에서 학문적, 실무적 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study used text mining techniques to collect keyword data from the sustainability reports of companies listed on the Korean and Japanese securities markets, ranked 1 to 3 by market capitalization, and conducted word cloud analysis, frequency analysis, ego network, and N-gram analysis. The purpose of this study is to benchmark the ESG management of companies in Japan, which has secured a high amount of ESG investment compared to Korea, by comparing issues with Japan, which has been mentioned as a leading country in ESG management based on the amount of investment and historical aspects of ESG management in various studies. In addition, the ESG management direction of Japan is used to predict the future ESG management direction of Korea and suggest directions for Korean companies. In the analysis of the frequency of keywords that can identify ESG issues in Japan and Korea, Korea and Japan are similar, and among the keywords with high frequency and importance, we analyzed the keywords with high co-occurrence frequency such as management, employee, and environmental, and found that the management keyword is similar, and from the employee keyword, childcare and diversity keywords appear as co-occurrence keywords in the Japanese analysis. In Korea, the keyword supplier was found in the environment and employee management keywords. In addition, the N-gram analysis, which can check the frequency of linked keywords, showed that the frequency of governance-related keywords was higher in Japan than in Korea. This study has academic and practical significance in that it compares the direction of ESG management in Korea through direct comparison with large companies in developed countries through literature studies and keyword analysis, and suggests directions and complementary points for Korean companies.
