국문 초록

김종문의 모더니즘 장시 『불안한 토요일』은 이질적인 이미지의 충돌, 의미의 불연속적 연쇄, 비약적인 내용 전개, 독해가 어려운 낯선 표현, 비일상적인 군사 용어 사용 및 군사 지식의 활용 등으로 일목요연하게 그 내용을 파악하기 어려운 작품이다. 그래서 이 작품에 대한 전문적인 연구가 거의 없었다. 본고는 이런 한계를 극복하기 위해 이 작품에만 초점을 맞추어 판본의 검토, 전체 구조의 해명, 작품 전체 해석 등을 시도하였다. 먼저, 『불안한 토요일』의 판본을 검토하였다. 연구자들이 1953년에 백조사에서 간행된 판본과 2년 후에 보문각에서 재발행된 판본을 동일시한다. 그러나 재판본에서 총 30행이 삭제되는 많은 수정이 이루어졌다는 점에서 그 차이를 분명하게 인식해야 한다. 다음으로 전체 구조는 3부로 구성되어 있으며, 구성 의도는 시 작품에 반복적으로 나타난다. 작품은 ‘과수원’, ‘도시’, ‘바다’를 중심적인 배경으로 삼고, 이를 통해 한국전쟁의 참혹함과 극복 의지를 다루고 있다. ‘불안한 토요일’이라는 제목은 일요일 새벽에 발발한 한국전쟁과 관련 있으며, 일요일의 달콤한 휴식에 대한 기대와 평화가 사라져 전쟁 발발에 대한 불안감과 위기감이 감도는 휴일 전날이라는 의미를 지닌다. 마지막으로 3부의 각 내용을 난해한 구절에 초점을 맞추어 구체적으로 분석하였다. 간략하게 설명하면 1부 ‘과수원의 장’은 ‘뱀’의 상징을 사용하여 한국전쟁의 참상과 미래 지향적 전망을 제시하고, 2부 ‘도시의 장’은 저항정신을 강조하는 시인을 등장시켜 시민들의 위선을 비판하고 있으며, 3부 ‘바다의 장’은 ‘나의 소녀’로 상징되는 이상형을 제시하여 전쟁의 극복 의지를 다루고 있다.

영문 초록

Kim Jong-moon's modernist(avant-garde) long poem “Anxious Saturday” is a work that is difficult to grasp at a glance due to the collision of heterogeneous images, discontinuous chain of meaning, illogical development of content, esoteric unfamiliar expressions, use of unusual military terminology, and utilization of military knowledge. Therefore, there has been little professional research on this work. In order to overcome these limitations, this paper focused only on this work and attempted to compare editions, elucidate the overall structure, and interpret the entire work. First, the versions of “Anxious Saturday” were compared. Researchers identify the edition published by Baekjosa in 1953 and the edition republished by Bomungak two years later. However, the difference must be clearly recognized in that many revisions were made in the Bomungak edition, with a total of 30 lines deleted. Next, the overall structure is composed of three parts, and the compositional intention appears repeatedly in the poem. The work deals with the misery of the Korean War and the will to overcome it, using ‘orchard’, ‘city’, and ‘sea’ as the central background. The title ‘Anxious Saturday’ is related to the Korean War that broke out early in the morning on Sunday, and has the meaning of the day before the holiday when expectations of sweet rest and peace on Sunday disappear, causing anxiety and a sense of crisis about the outbreak of war. Finally, each content of Part 3 was analyzed in detail, focusing on difficult phrases. In brief, Part 1's “Chapter of the orchard” uses the symbol of the 'snake' to present the horrors of the Korean War and a future-oriented prospects, Part 2's “Chapter of the City” criticizes citizens' hypocrisy by featuring a poet emphasizing the spirit of resistance, and Part 3's “Chapter of the Sea” deals with the will to overcome the war by presenting an ideal type symbolized as “My Girl.”
