I have been asked to address the subject “The US-North Korea Relations under the Bush administration.” I will limit my remarks to the very near future, and speak to the topic in the larger framework of US foreign policy. I will also restrict myself to what I think the new American administration's foreign policy might look like over the course of the next few years, based on the record so far, and on my limited knowledge of some of the key people in the new administration. My remarks are of necessity tentative, preliminary, and highly speculative. And they may well be wrong - only time will tell. I would ask you to remember that the element of time is important to this discussion. The Bush administration, after all, is even younger than the new millennium, having taken office only 73 days ago.
