국문 초록

전능하신 하나님은 무기 공장을 농기구 공장으로 변화시키고, 국가 간의 전쟁을 종식시키는 유일한 중재자이시자 재판관이며 주권자이시다(사 2:4; 9:6; 미 4:3). 그런데 우크라이나와 러시아 간의 전쟁이 1년 넘게 지속되던 2023년 10월 7일, 팔레스타인의 수니파 저항운동 세력인 하마스가 이스라엘을 전방위로 공격했고, 이어진 전쟁에서 양측은 수많은 사상자를 내었다. 이 전쟁 초기에 유발 하라리는이스라엘이 하마스를 물리친다면, 이스라엘 국민은 네타냐후 총리의‘포퓰리즘적 음모’와 ‘메시아적 환상’을 반대해야 한다고 밝힘으로써반 정부 입장에 섰다. 이런 비판과 달리, 미국은 이스라엘을 즉각 지원했으며, 전 세계의 적지 않은 기독교인들도 이스라엘을 지지했다. 이처럼 기독교가 이스라엘을 지지하는 성경적 근거는 무엇인가? 구약의 예언대로 선민 이스라엘의 회복이 팔레스타인 땅에서 성취되어야 하기 때문인가?(참고. 사 49:8; 59:21; 렘 16:15; 31:23, 34; 겔 37; 암 9:11-15; 행 1:6; 롬 11:26). 이스라엘의 회복이 복합적인 문제인것은 이스라엘과 신약교회의 관계(교회론), 이스라엘의 개인 및 집단적 구원(구원론), 그리고 이스라엘과 예수님의 재림과 천년왕국(종말론)이 맞물려 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 이스라엘의 회복을 두고 씨름해 온 대체신학(replacement theology, supersessionism)과 회복신학(restoration theology)을 차례로 살핀 후, 신약성경 전반에 걸쳐 나타나는 이스라엘의 회복을 개괄적으로 분석하여 그 의미를 찾는다.

영문 초록

God Almighty is the only mediator, judge, and sovereign Lord who can transform weapons factories into agricultural implement factories and ends wars among nations (Isa 2:4; 9:6; Micah 4:3). However, on October 7, 2023, when the war between Ukraine and Russia continued for more than a year, Hamas, a Palestinian Sunni resistance movement, attacked Israel on all fronts, and both sides suffered numerous casualties in the ensuing war. At early stage of this war, Yuval Harari took an anti-government stance by stating that if Israel were to defeat Hamas, the Israeli people would have to oppose Prime Minister Netanyahu's ‘populistic conspiracy’ and ‘messianic fantasy.’ Contrary to these criticisms, the United States immediately supported Israel, and many Christians around the world also supported Israel. What is the biblical basis for Christianity’s support of Israel? Is it because the restoration of the chosen people of Israel, as prophesied in the Old Testament, must be accomplished in the land of Palestine? (Isa. 49:8; 59:21; Jer. 16:15; 31:34; Amos 9:11-15; Acts 1:6; Rom 11:26). The reason why the restoration of Israel is so complicate is that the relationship between Israel and the New Testament church (ecclesiology), Israel’s individual and collective salvation (soteriology), and Israel and the second coming of Jesus and the millennium (eschatology) are intertwined. This study examines replacement theology (supersessionism) and restoration theology, which have been struggling with the topic of the restoration of Israel, and then finds its meaning which appears throughout the New Testament.
