상황중심 공감적 의사소통 프로그램이 초등 통합학급 학생들의 공감능력, 또래관계망, 장애학생에 대한 태도 및 공감적 대화행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 상황중심 공감적 의사소통(situation-based empathic communication, SEC) 프로그램을 실시하여 초등 통합학급 학생들의 공감능력, 또래관계망, 장애학생에 대한 태도 및 공감적 대화행동에 미친 영향을 밝히는 것이다. 인천 소재 A초등학교 실험집단 2개 통합학급 학생들은 이 중재를 12회기 동안 한 학기 정규 교육과정 내 국어, 도덕 교과시간을 통해 참여하였다. 반면, B초등학교 통제집단 2개 통합학급 학생들은 기존 교과 진도에 따른 수업에 참여하였다. SEC 프로그램은 한경인, 박승희(2020)연구에서 7단계 연구절차에 의해 개발된 것으로, 하위내용은 공감적 듣기, 공감적 이해, 공감적 반응의 3가지 요소로 구성되었고 총 8가지 공감적 상황(자기표현, 감사, 칭찬, 격려, 부탁, 거절, 갈등해결, 사과하기)이 포함되었다. 중재 효과를 밝히기 위해 공감능력 점수에 대해 공분산분석(ANCOVA)을, 또래관계망에 대해 사회연결망 분석을, 장애학생에 대한 태도 점수에 대해 독립표본 t 검정을, 그리고 공감적 대화행동 점수에 대해서는 대응표본 t 검정을 실시하였다. 연구결과 실험집단 학생들의 공감능력과 장애학생에 대한 태도의 총점이 통제집단에 비해 유의하게 높았다. 또래관계망은 실험집단이 통제집단 보다 더 향상되었다. 실험집단 일부 학생들의 공감적 대화행동 점수도 사후점수가 사전점수에 비해 유의하게 높았다. 본 연구는 통합학급 내 ‘모든’ 학생을 대상으로 정규 교과수업 시간에 SEC 프로그램을 실시해서 공감능력의 인지적, 정서적, 의사소통적 3가지 측면 모두에서 긍정적인 변화를 이끌어낸 종합적인 프로그램으로서 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 후속 연구를 위한 제언 및 연구의 제한점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a situation-based empathic communication program on elementary students’ empathy abilities, peer networks, attitudes toward students with disabilities, and empathic conversational behaviors in inclusive classrooms. The participants consist of four inclusive classes, comprised of 91 students, from two schools. Two of these classes were the experimental group and the others were the control group. This program was developed through a 7-step research procedure. This program was organized with 3 elements of emphatic conversation: empathic listening, empathic comprehension, and empathic response. The experimental group participated in the program taught by the researcher for 12 sessions, while the control group participated in the Korean and Ethics lessons. The eight empathic situations (self-expression, gratitude, praise, encouragement, request, rejection, conflict resolution, and apology) were applied in the program content. The pretest-posttest control group design was applied. The difference between the two groups was analyzed by using the ANCOVA for empathy abilities, two dependent samples t-test for the attitudes toward students with disabilities, and a paired t-test for emphatic conversational behaviors. Netminer 4 was used to analyze any changes in the peer networks within the inclusive classes. This study demonstrates that the situation-based empathic communication program may have positive effects on the empathy abilities, peer networks, attitudes toward students with disabilities, and empathic conversational behaviors among elementary students. This study was significant in that it examined a situation-based empathic communication program in regular curriculum classes for “all” the students in inclusive classes. The limitation of this study, as well as suggestions for future studies, were provided.
