국문 초록

본 글은 판소리 춘향가와 관련된 벽소 이영민의 한시 <옥중화가>를 통해그가 궁극적으로 지향하고자 했던 것이 무엇인지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 그의 시문집인 『벽소시고』 를 통해 그의 교유관계를 파악하고, 그가 순천 지역에서 어떻게 판소리를 향유했는지에 대해 탐색해 보았다. 이작업을 통해 그가 폭 넓은 교유관계를 유지하였음을 확인하였고, 사람에 대한애정과 관심이 많았음을 살필 수 있었다. 또한 그의 작품이 남겨질 수 있었던배경을 판소리 향유 방식을 통해 추적해 보았다. 이영민의 한시 작품인 <옥중화가>에는 그의 의식 세계가 잘 나타나 있다. <옥중화가>라는 제목을 통해 교훈을 제시하고, 춘향의 절개에 초점을 둔 내용으로 한시를 창작하였다. 춘향의 고난을 부각하여 ‘열’을 더욱 강조하면서, 자신의감옥 생활을 ‘의’에 빗대었다. 나아가 나라의 독립을 원하는 ‘충’으로 그 의식이점차 확장되어 나간다. 또한 이영민은 <옥중화가>를 통해 평등과 화합을 지향하였다. 춘향에게 사또의 징계 결정권을 줌으로써 기생 신분임에도 하나의 인격체로 춘향을 인정하려하였다. 춘향은 사또를 벌하지 않고 타이름으로 용서와 화해를 선택한다. 이는판소리적 세계관인 축제적 결말과 맞닿아 있다. 이렇듯 <옥중화가>에는 식민지조국에서 서로 이념과 사상이 다르다 할지라도 조화롭게 화합하며 살아가길염원하는 이영민의 사상이 고스란히 담겨 있다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the Chinese poem by ByeoSo Lee Young-min in relation to Pansori Chunhyangga to understand Lee Young-min’s ultimate interest and pursuit. Based on his anthology, 『Byeoksosigo』, the kind of companionship he preferred and the way he enjoyed pansori when he was in Suncheon are first described. Through this work, it was confirmed that he enjoyed the companionship of a wide range of people and had immense affection for and interest in people. His enjoyment of pansori also leads to an understanding of the background to his work. Lee Young-min's Chinese poem illustrates the world of consciousness. His principles are reflected in the title . The contents of the poem are focused on Chunghyang's constancy. He emphasizes “Yeul(chastity)” by describing the hardships that Chunhyang underwent. He compares his life in prison to “ui(Righteousness).” Further, his consciousness gradually expands toward “Chung (Loyalty),” when he seeks independence for his country. In addition, Lee Young-min sought equality and harmony through . Chunhyang was given the power to determine the punishment for Sato's criticism. Although Sato tried to portray Chunhyang, a Korean geisha, as a common woman, Chunhyang persuades Sato without punishing him to choose forgiveness and reconciliation. This ends in happiness all around, which is what Pansori seeks to pursue. Accordingly, it may be inferred that contains the thoughts of Lee Young-min, who wished that his countrymen live in harmony even if their ideologies and ideas are different from that of the colonizer during the colonial period.
