자폐 범주성 장애 아동의 실행기능 중재 연구의 동향 및 과제

국문 초록

실행기능은 자폐 범주성 장애의 핵심 결함 영역과 긴밀하게 연결된 인지 능력 중 하나로 개별 아동의 실행기능 프로파일에 따른 적절한 지원이 제공되어야 할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 자폐 범주성 장애 아동의 실행기능 중재 연구를 분석함으로써 이들의 실행기능 관련 연구의 동향을 파악하고 중재의 내용을 분석함으로써 앞으로의 연구 방향 및 교육현장을 위한 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 논문 선정 기준에 따라 총 29편의 국외 중재 연구를 선정하였으며 연구의 개괄적인 분석 및 중재 내용에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 자폐 범주성 장애 아동의 실행기능 관련 중재 연구는 2004년 이후부터 심리학 및 정신의학 분야에서 주로 초등학교 연령의 고기능 아동을 대상으로 이루어진 것으로 나타났다. 구체적인 중재의 내용으로는 주로 인지행동 교수전략과 운동 관련 중재가 활용되었으며 중재의 목표로는 실행기능 하위기술인 유연성과 억제력이 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 이상의 연구 결과를 토대로 자폐 범주성 장애 아동의 실행기능 중재 연구의 향후 방향과 교육현장을 위한 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Executive function, a cognitive ability closely related to the core deficit areas of autism spectrum disorders, necessitates a thorough understanding of every child’s profile and provision of appropriate support. This study aimed to review the latest research trends and analyze the interventions targeting the enhancement of executive function in children with autism spectrum disorders. In accordance with the criteria, a total of 29 experimental studies were selected. An overview of general characteristics and a detailed analysis of specific intervention attributes were conducted. Executive function intervention studies among children with autism spectrum disorders have been underway since 2004, mostly in the fields of psychology and psychiatry, targeting primary school-aged children with high functioning autism spectrum disorders. The most used interventions were cognitive behavioral/instructional strategies (CBIS) and exercise and movement (EXM). Notably, a high proportion of interventions were used to facilitate flexibility and inhibition subcategories of the executive function. Based on the findings, the future directions and educational implications regarding intervention aimed at enhancing executive function in children with autism spectrum disorders were discussed.
