영유아 아동기 담론과 아동의 범주화

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 푸코의 통치성 이론에 근거하여 어린이집의 아동돌봄 실천에 나타난 현대사회의 영유아 아동기 담론을 분석하고, 교사들의 돌봄실천을파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 어린이집 관련 행정문서들을 대상으로 내용분석을 하고, 어린이집 교사 12명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였다. 어린이집에서의 돌봄은 국가수준의 커리큘럼인 누리과정을 기반으로 하며, 누리과정에 나타난 아동기 담론은 주도적이고 적극적인 아동으로서 ‘놀이위주’, ‘아동중심주의’ 등의 용어를 통하여 드러난다. 한편, 어린이집 교사들의돌봄실천을 통해 드러난 영유아 아동기 담론의 특징은 아동의 좋은 일상경험쌓기와 주도성이다. 이러한 교사들의 인식은 아동으로 하여금 일상생활에서새로운 것을 실천하고, 언어표현을 격려하여 아동이 신자유주의적 주체로서의 행동규범을 내면화하는 기제로 작동한다. 반면, 교사들은 실천지침에 입각하여 아동을 범주화하는데, 아동기 담론에 적합하지 않은 아동으로 적극적이고 자율적이지 않은 아동을 주목한다. 적극적이고 자율적이지 않은 아동은 아동 개인의 문제라기보다 가족의 문제로 환원함으로써, 아동의 가정과 협력적 관계를 통해 아동기 담론을 실천하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the discourse of early childhood in contemporary society through the practice of child care in daycare centers based on Foucault's theory of governantality, and to identify the governance of children. Care in daycare centers is based on the Nuri curriculum, a national curriculum, and the discourse of childhoods expressed through terms such as 'play-oriented' and 'child-centeredness' as a leading and active child. On the other hand, the early childhood discourse revealed through the care practices of teachers is characterized by children's good daily experiences and initiative. These teachers' perceptions work as a mechanism to encourage children to practice new things in their daily lives and to express themselves verbally, thus internalizing the norms of behavior as neoliberal subjects. On the other hand, children who do not fit into the childhood discourse are those who are not active and autonomous. This reduces the problem of childhood to that of the family rather than the individual child, and seeks to practice childhood discourse through a cooperative relationship with the child's family.
