순수예술 팬덤 확장 방안 연구

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 대중예술 팬덤 사례를 분석하고, 시사점을 도출해 순수예술의 팬덤 확장 방안을 모색하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 대중예술 분야에서 활발하게 활동하고 있는 방탄소년단(BTS)의 ‘아미(A.R.M.Y.)’와 임영웅의 ‘영웅시대’를 연구대상으로 삼았다. 먼저 예술과 팬덤의 문화지형성 고찰을 통해 4가지 특성을 추출했다. 문화사회성, 상호교환성, 스타성, 참여성 등이다. 팬덤은 기본적으로 차별(discrimination)과 구별(distinction), 생산성(productivity)과 참여(participation), 자본 축적(capital accumulation)이란 특성이 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 이에 기초해 대중예술 팬덤 양상을 진단한 결과, 방탄소년단(BTS)의 경우, ‘아미’의 가장 큰 특징은 팬덤이 BTS의 정체성을 형성하고, 조직화한다는 점이다. 또한 온라인의 강점을 살린 초연결성, 자발적 의지의 발현으로 인한 높은 충성도, 조직화된 커뮤니케이션의 장점도 확인할 수 있었다. 임영웅의 경우는 ‘애미’로 지칭되는 부드러운 카리스마를 지닌 ‘영웅시대’들의 자발적 응집력, 조직적인 추진력, 스타의 철학을 존중하고 함께하는 실천하는 면모 등이다. 대중예술 팬덤 사례 시사점에 기반해 순수예술의 팬덤 확장 방안 세가지를 다음과 같이 제시하고자 한다. 휴먼 플랫폼(human platform) 구축, 순수예술 특성에 기반한 대중성 발현, 스타 예술가 발굴 및 육성강화 등이다. 예술의 미학적 정점에 있는 순수예술이 제시한 확장 방안을 통해 현장에서 구현되고, 팬덤과의 유기적 상생관계 설정을 통해 문화영토 지경이 넓혀지길 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the cases of popular art fandom and derive implications to explore ways to expand the fandom of pure art. BTS's ‘A.R.M.Y.’ and Lim Youngwoong's ‘Hero Generation’, which are active in the field of popular art, were studied. First, four characteristics were extracted through a review of the cultural topography of art and fandom. It is cultural sociality, interchangeability, stariness, and participation. Fandom has been found to be basically characterized by discrimination and distinction, productivity and participation, and capital accumulation. Based on this, as a result of diagnosing the trend of popular art fandom, the biggest feature of BTS is that fandom forms and organizes BTS' identity. In addition, it was possible to confirm the advantages of hyperconnectivity using online strengths, high loyalty due to the expression of voluntary will, and organized communication. Lim Young-woong's case includes the voluntary cohesion of the ‘Hero Generation’ with soft charisma, organizational drive, and the aspect of respecting and practicing the philosophy of stars. Based on the implications of the case of popular art fandom, I would like to present three ways to expand the fandom of pure art as follows. It includes establishing a human platform, expressing popularity based on pure art characteristics, and strengthening the discovery and development of star artists. It is hoped that pure art, which is at the apex of art, will be implemented in the field through the expansion plan proposed in the paper, and that the cultural territory will be expanded through the establishment of organic win-win relations with fandom.
