국문 초록

본 연구는 2018년부터 2022년 5월까지 지역사회를 기반으로 이뤄지고 있는 다문화교육 프로그램을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 삼았다. 동작구에 정착한 이주민 참여자와 마을 주민, 그리고 동작구에 있는 고등학교를 다니는 청소년들이 지속적으로 마을 탐방을 진행하면서 얻게 된 인식의 변화가 다문화 감수성 증진으로 이어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 기존 다문화 교육이 가지고 있는 문제점을 고찰한 후, 학교 다문화교육방향을 지역사회 이해교육, 한국어 문화교육, 세계시민교육과 연결지어 제안해보았다. 다문화교육 대상인 선주민과 이주민, 청소년과 여성이라는 이질적인 사회적 정체성을 가지고 어떻게 세계시민성을 갖고 서로에게 공감하고 존중하는지 태도를 파악하는 것이었다. 제언으로는 동작다다름단 참여자들이 2022년 마을활동을 통해 <꽃을 든 청소년 프로젝트>라는 세계시민주제를 가지고 어떻게 마을 주민들을 만나 사회적 목소리를 내는가에 대하여 제안하였다. 본 연구는 코로나 19 팬데믹으로 유의미한 연계 활동의 부족 및 엄격한 검증을 통해 도출된 방법론을 적용하지는 못하였다는 한계점을 지니고 있다. 많은 사회적 의미를 함의하고 있다고 소개한 <꽃을 든 프로젝트> 또한 2022년 현재 진행 중인 프로그램이라는 점에서 결과 분석과 해석이 과연 적절한지 의문스럽다. 그럼에도 기존의 학교나 기관 중심 다문화교육의 범주를 벗어나 마을결합공동체의 일원으로 이주민과 선주민, 그리고 청소년이 새로운 형태의 다문화교육을 시도하여 궁극적으로 다문화감수성을 증진할 수 있는 방법론에 대한 새로운 관점을 제시할 수 있다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine multicultural education programs based on the local community from 2018 to May 2022. It was confirmed that the change in perception gained by migrant participants, villagers, and teenagers who settled in Dongjak-gu together during the village tour led to the promotion of multicultural sensitivity. After examining the problems of existing multicultural education, the direction of multicultural education in schools was proposed in connection with community understanding education, Korean language culture education, and global citizenship education. It was to grasp the attitude of having global citizenship and empathizing and respecting each other with the heterogeneous social identity of natives and migrants, teenagers and women who are subject to multicultural education. As a suggestion, participants of Dongjak Dada Group proposed how to meet the villagers and make social voices with the global municipal democracy system called the Youth Project with Flowers through village activities in 2022. This study has limitations in that the lack of significant linkage activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the methodology derived through strict verification could not be applied. It is questionable whether the analysis and interpretation of the results are appropriate given that the “Project with Flowers”, which introduced many social implications, is also an ongoing program in 2022. Nevertheless, it is meaningful in that migrants, native residents, and adolescents can try a new type of multicultural education as a member of a village association community beyond the existing school or institution-centered multicultural education category.
