국문 초록

본 연구에서는 2019년 대학기본역량진단 평가에서 최하등급을 받아 재정과 운영에 어려움을 겪은 한 사립대학교(C대학교)가 지역에 사업장을 둔 한 기업(B기업)의 재정지원과 협업을 통해 혁신하고 경영 안정을 이룬 사례를 분석했다. 분석은 SER-M 모델을 중심으로 이루어졌으며, 주체, 환경, 자원, 메커니즘에 따른 C대학교와 B기업의 협업 추진 과정 및 성과를 살펴보았다. 또한 조정, 학습, 선택으로 이루어진 메커니즘의 세 가지 기능 모델을 이용해서 대학과 기업 간 다양한 협업 활동이 가진 특성을 찾아냈다. 그리고 이로부터 지역대학과 기업의 협업 전략에따른 시사점과 성공 요인을 제시했다. 사례 분석 결과, C대학교는 지역의 우수한학생을 유치하기 위하여 B기업으로부터 신입생 전원에게 지급하는 등록금 전액,교원의 연구 및 산학협력을 증진하기 위한 기금 등을 지원받아 2021년 이래 신입생 100% 충원과 지역의 사립대학교 중에서 가장 높은 지원율을 달성했으며 교원의 산학협력 활동이 증가했다. 더불어 대학 행정 및 학사 운영의 시스템도 구축했다. 또한 B기업과 인턴십 및 취업이 연결되는 연계 트랙을 개발하여 원하는 학생에게 제공하고 있으며, C대학교와 B기업 간 정례 및 상시 소통 채널을 가동하는 등지속가능한 협업 메커니즘을 구축했다. 그간 등록금 동결, 학령인구 감소, 수도권대학 선호 등으로 재정과 입학생 유치에 어려움을 겪는 지역대학교가 지역 기업의재정적 기여와 대학-기업 간 협업 메커니즘으로 대학을 운영한다면 대학은 재정적·경영적 안정을 유지하고, 지역의 인재가 지역대학으로 지원할 가능성이 높아질수 있음을 확인했다.

영문 초록

In this study, we analyzed a case in which a private university(University C)in a local province in Korea collaborated with a company(Corporation B) thathad a business site in the same locality, resulting in university innovation andstable management. At the time, University C received the lowest grade inthe university competency assessment by the Ministry of Education in 2019and was struggling with finances and management. We analyzed the casecomprehensively in a systematic fashion by applying the SER-M model andexamining the collaboration process and output between University C andCorporation B according to subject, environment, resource, and mechanism. We also positively examined the validity of the three functions of themechanism, i.e., coordinating, learning, and selecting mechanisms, with threecorresponding activities in existence. We then presented the implications andsuccess factors of the collaboration strategy between local universities andcompanies. The case shows that University C received a full tuition scholarship fromCorporation B for all freshmen to attract excellent local students and funds topromote faculty research and industry-university collaboration. One hundredpercent of the new student quota was filled with support from Corporation B,resulting in University C achieving first place in the admission application ratein the Province since 2021. The faculty's industry-academia activities increased. The system foruniversity administration and academic management was established. Asustainable collaboration was established, such as providing students with alinkage track that connected internships and employment with Corporation B. Based on the results of this study, we propose local universities and local companies establish a comprehensive and systematic mechanism for collaboration with multi-faceted functions of coordinating, learning, and selecting, which will contribute to the universities’ financial and managerialstability and the companies’ possibility to attract local talents.
