출애굽 모티프로 본 아나니아와 삽비라 사건 (행 5:1-11)

국문 초록

사도행전 5장의 아나니아와 삽비라 죽음 사건은 여러 난해한 부분을 내포하고 있다. 흔히 이 사건은 개인적인 죄의 차원에서 해석되어왔다. 이 죽음 사건을 해석하는 대다수 학자는 구약 아간의 죽음 사건과의 연관성을 상당 부분 부정해 왔고, 무엇보다 출애굽 모티프와의 관계성을 간과해 왔다. 하지만, 본 연구는 사도행전 5장의 죽음사건이 단지 개인적인 차원의 죄를 다루는 본문이 아니라 교회에 관한 것이며, 좁게는 구약 아간 사건을 암시하고 있고, 더 중요하게는아간 사건이 포함된, 더 큰 문맥인 출애굽 모티프와 연관있다고 분석한다. 우선, ‘감추다’(νοσφίζω)라는 빈도수가 극히 적은 동사 외에 이동사와 결합된 전치사(ἀπὸ) 어구 형태를 통해 볼 때, 구약과 사도행전 사이에 문자적 유사성이 있음을 통해 이를 뒷받침한다. 또한, 더중요하게 출애굽 사건을 연상시키는 주의 영을 시험한다는 개념, 그리고 듣는 사람들이 큰 두려움에 빠진다는 반응의 유사성은 사도행전 5장 아나니아와 삽비라 사건이 단지 아간 사건만을 연상시키는것이 아니라, 더 넓게 출애굽 사건을 연상시키고 있다고 분석한다. 본 연구는 구약 출애굽 모티프가 사도행전 5장 사건의 배경임을 입증한 이후, 이 배경을 근거로 새출애굽의 공동체인 교회가 단지 인간의 공동체가 아니라, 하나님의 임재가 있는 영적 공동체임을 보여주는 의도가 아나니아와 삽비라 사건의 신학적 의도임을 밝힌다. 출애굽 과정의 가나안 정복 초기에 발생한 아간 심판 사건은 신앙공동체를 위기에 빠뜨린 사건으로, 이스라엘이 거룩한 하나님의 임재가 있는 공동체임을 대내외적으로 알리신 사건이다. 이와 마찬가지로, 초기 단계의 새출애굽 공동체인 신약교회를 인간의 모임으로 오해해신앙공동체를 위기에 빠트린 아나니아와 삽비라를 죽이심으로 하나님의 임재가 있는 영적 공동체의 거룩성을 대내외에 알리고자 했던의도가 사도행전 5장의 사건에 담겨있다고 본 연구는 주장한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to interpret the punishment of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5) against the backdrop of Achan in Joshua 7 and more importantly the exodus motif in the Old Testament. The narrative of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11 is one of the most difficult passages to understand in the Acts. Majority of scholars have denied the intertextual relationship between this story and the story of Achan in Joshua 7 and also overlooked its relationship with the exodus motif. However, this study argues that the story of Ananias and Sapphira can be understood against the background not only of Achan story in Joshua 7 but also of the exodus motif in the OT. Based on the combination of the rare verb νοσφίζω and the preposition ἀπὸ this study maintains that there is a verbal similarity between these two texts. Furthermore, we argue that the concept of ‘testing God’ and the theme of the great fear on those who had heard of God’s work in both texts clearly form the conceptual and thematic parallels from the perspective of the exodus motif that includes the story of Achan in Joshua 7. Based on the verbal, conceptual and thematic similarities, this study holds that by appealing to the story of Achan and exodus event, Acts intends to show that early church is not any human community but the spiritual community of the new exodus that God dwells in. The narrative of Ananias and Sapphira is not a warning about individual’s sins but a warning about the communal nature of the early church as new exodus community. Just as the punishment of Achan at the early stage of Canaanite conquest at the exodus event indicates that God was present among his people and his presence was known to outsiders as well as insiders, so the punishment of Ananias and Sapphira shows that the early church is the holy, spiritual community where God is present and such holy and spiritual dimension of the church is to be known to unbelievers as well as believers.
