츠빙글리의 은혜 언약의 통일성과 차이점 인식의 발전 과정

국문 초록

츠빙글리는 1525년 5월부터 1527년 7월에 걸쳐 창세기 17장을 중심으로 언약사상을 발전시켜나갔다. 1525년 5월에 저술한 『세례, 재세례, 유아세례론』에서는 구약과 신약의 관계를 유비적 관계로 보았고, 창세기 17장의 할례를 인간 편에서 하나님에 대한 서약의 표지라고 보았다. 그런데 1525년 6월 19일부터 시작된 프로페차이에서 강의했던 내용과 1526년의 설교가 종합되어 1527년 3월에 나왔던 『창세기 주석』에서는 구약과 신약은 동일한 하나의 은혜 언약으로 파악되었고, 할례는 하나님의 은혜 언약에 속한다는 표지로 해석되었다. 이러한 입장은 1525년 8월에 저술된 『성찬보충론』에서도 창세기 17장을 바탕으로 거의 동일하게 유지되었다. 『성찬보충론』에서는 은혜언약의 내용이 창세기 17장을 바탕으로 6가지로 열거되었으나 구약과 신약의 차이점은 지적되지 않았다. 1525년 11월에 저술된 『후브마이어의 세례론 소책자에 대한 답변』에서 창세기 17장을 분석하여 언약의 내용을 7가지로 도표화하면서 차이점을 세 가지로 지적하였다. 그리고 1527년 7월에 저술한 『재세례파 궤변에 대한 반박론』에서는 아브라함 언약을 중심으로 언약의 내용을 4가지의 약속과 하나의 요구사항, 그리고 6가지의 구약과 신약의 차이점으로 제시하였다. 츠빙글리는 이러한 과정을 통해 창세기 17장의 아브라함의 언약을 근거로 구약과 신약이 하나의 동일한 은혜언약이면서 6가지의 사소한 차이점을 가지고 있다는 것을 명확하게 파악하였다.

영문 초록

From May 1525 to July 1527, Zwingli developed the idea of the covenant centered on Genesis 17. In On baptism, Rebaptism, and Infant Baptism written in May 1525, the relationship between the Old Testament and the New Testament was viewed as an analogy, and circumcision in Genesis 17 was seen as a sign of a oath to God from the human side. However, in the Commentary on Genesis published in March 1527, which was lectured at Prophezai beginning on June 19, 1525, the Old and New Testaments were understood as the same covenant of grace, and circumcision has been interpreted as a sign of belonging to the covenant of grace. This position was maintained almost the same in the Subsidiay Essay on the Eucharist written in August 1525 based on Genesis 17. In the Subsidiay Essay on the Eucharist, the contents of the covenant of grace were enumerated in six categories based on Genesis 17, but the differences between the Old Testament and the New Testament were not pointed out. In Answer to Hubmaier's Baptism Booklet written in November 1525, Genesis 17 was analyzed and the contents of the covenant were charted in seven ways, and three differences were pointed out. And in the Refutation of the Tricks of Catabaptists written in July 1527, the contents of the covenant were presented as four promises, one requirement, and six differences between the Old Testament and the New Testament, centering on the Abrahamic covenant. Through this process, Zwingli clearly grasped that the Old and New Testaments, based on the Abrahamic covenant in Genesis 17, were one and the same covenant of grace, but had six minor differences.
