국문 초록

모든 교육연구는 인간학적 고려를 벗어날 수 없다. ‘발현적 유물론의 인간학’은 적절한 방식으로 진전된 교육연구를 위해 모색된 유물론적 인간학이다. 마르크스와 비판적 실재론의 인간학을 종합한 이 인간학은, 인간을 ‘환경 안에서 실천하는, 정신적 힘을 지닌 신체적 존재’로 간주한다. 사회와 존재론적으로 구분되는 인간은 실천을 통해 환경과 관계를 맺는다. 인간은 이 관계 속에서 형성되지만, 이 형성의 과정을 통해 실천을 위한 구조적 능력을 획득하여, 능동적으로 사회를 변형시킬 수 있는 행위주체이다. 인식주체로서의 인간이 지닌 정신은 물질적인 신체로부터 비롯된 발현적 힘으로서, 생물학적 인과기제를 통해서는 충분하게 설명될 수 없는 고유의 구조와 작동원리, 즉 심리학적 기제를 지닌다. 이러한 발현적 유물론의 인간학은, 교육에 대한 유물론적 사유의 작업에서 실천적 인간의 본질에 내포된 근원적인 교육적 계기를 드러낼 수 있게 한다. 또한, 일관된 유물론으로서 과학적 탐구를 뒷받침할 수 있는 이 인간학은, 환원주의적 인간관을 전제하는 교육과학 연구들에 대한 내적 비판의 준거를 제공한다. 인간을 ‘신체와 실천의 존재’로 이해하는 이 인간학은, 적절한 방식의 유물론적 교육연구를 위한 유용한 출발점이자 지도가 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Every educational research cannot escape anthropological considerations. The “anthropology of emergent materialism” is a materialist anthropology that seeks advanced educational research in an appropriate way. This anthropology, which synthesizes the anthropology of Marx and critical realism, considers human beings as “bodily beings with mental powers, practicing in the environment”. A man ontologically distinct from society enters into a relationship with the environment through his practice. Human beings are formed in this relationship, but through this formation process, they acquire structural capabilities for practice. Thus, they are agents who can actively transform society. As agents of cognition, humans have unique minds, an emergent power generated from the material body, and minds have their own structures and operational principles, that is, a psychological causal mechanism that cannot be fully explained through biological mechanisms. The anthropology of emergent materialism makes it possible to reveal the fundamental educational moments embodied in the essence of practical human beings in materialistic thinking about education. In addition, this anthropology, which can support scientific inquiry as a consistent materialism, provides criteria for the internal critique of studies of educational science that presuppose a reductionist view of human beings. This anthropology, which regards humans as “beings of body and practice”, can provide a helpful starting point and map for materialist educational research in an appropriate way.
