국문 초록

디지털 전환시대 읽기 매체가 변화하며 읽는다는 것의 의미 역시 달라지고 있다. 언제든지 무엇이든지 찾아볼 수 있는 읽기의 유토피아에는 읽기를 도와줄 친절한 조력자들이 포진해 있다. 정보를 재구성하여 압축된 형태로 쉽게 전달해주는 지식콘텐츠가 독서의 대체재로 선택된다. 대화를 유창하게 생성할 수 있는 챗GPT는 읽기의 강력한 대행자로 등장하여 읽기의 외주화를 더욱 촉진하고 있다. 읽기의 외주화는 매체 변화에 따른 소통의 새로운 양상이다. 따라서 이를 정확하게 진단하고 그 특성을 활용하여 읽기의 범주를 조정하거나 확장하는 것이 필요하다. 지식콘텐츠를 흥미를 촉발하고 기본적인 독해와 이해를 돕는 조력자로 활용하여 읽기의 대체재가 아닌 매개재 혹은 보완재로서의 활용해볼 수 있다. 이해, 분석, 확장을 연결하는 읽기의 전 과정을 활성화시켜 줄 수 있는 새로운 대화자로서 챗GPT를 이용하는 방안도 구체적으로 고안되어야 한다. 디지털 기술은 골방의 고독한 읽기를 활동적인 세계로 이끌어 냈으며, 고전은 다양한 매체를 타고 더 쉽고 더 재미있게 전달된다. 그러나 변화를 수용하고 그 유용성을 인정하는 것과 별개로, 기술의 향상이 고전 읽기가 계승해온 정서와 태도, 가치를 생성하는 능력을 위축시킨다는 점도 고려해야 한다. 읽기의 외주화는 고전을 범용지식으로 확산시키는 반면, 전통적인 읽기에 동반되었던 고독한 몰입의 시공간을 위축시킨다. 인간의 고유성을 구성하는 토대가 약화되는 것이다. 고전 읽기는 인간이 자신과 세계를 이해하는 입체적인 과정이었다. 이를 기반으로 하여 인간과 기술이 협업하는 새로운 읽기 과정을 구성해 나가야 한다.

영문 초록

In the era of digital transformation, the medium of reading is expanding and accordingly, the meaning of reading is changing. In the utopia of reading, where we can find anything at any time, there are friendly helpers to help us read. Knowledge content that reconstructs information and delivers it easily in a shortened form emerges as a substitute for classic reading. Especially, AI ChatGPT replaces reading, thinking, and judging, and outsourcing of reading prevails. Outsourcing of reading is a new aspect of communication according to media changes. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately diagnose it and use its characteristics to adjust or expand the category of reading. Knowledge content can be used as an aid to stimulate interest and help basic reading comprehension and understanding, and can be used as a medium or supplement rather than a substitute for reading. A plan to use ChatGPT as a new conversationalist that can activate the entire process of reading that connects understanding, analysis, and expansion must also be devised in detail. Digital technology has brought lonely reading in the closet to the active world, and classics are delivered more easily and more fun through various media. However, apart from embracing change and acknowledging its usefulness, it should also be considered that the improvement of technology diminishes the ability to create emotions, attitudes, and values inherited from reading classics. Reading the classics was a three-dimensional process for humans to understand themselves and the world. Based on this, a new reading process in which humans and technology collaborate should be constructed.
