조정권의 시와 정신주의

국문 초록

조정권의 시를 ‘정신주의’ 측면에서 살펴보았다. 정신주의는 80년대 중반 최동호에 의해 처음으로 제기된 이래, 지금까지 한국 현대시에 새로운 지평을 넓히는 데 시적 방법론이자 인식론으로 큰 역할을 해왔다. 그러나 본고는 이러한 정신주의의 원류가 퇴계의 ‘주리철학’과 깊은 연관성이 있음을 천착했다. 조정권이 『산정묘지』를 전후로 줄기차게 천착해 온 ‘정신’에 대한 탐구가 퇴계의 주리철학과 잇닿아 있다는 것이다. 이러한 근친성은 ‘주리론과 시적 언어의 상관성’에 이르게 되면 보다 선명하게 드러난다. 퇴계의 주리철학은 좀 더 현상적인 부분의 유용성을 강조하는 이이의 ‘주기철학’에 비해 존재의 근원을 성찰하고 윤리적 당위성에 무게를 두는 ‘심학(心學)’이다. 우리시대 조정권의 시는 마치 ‘종갓집’ 풍경 같다. 남용된 욕망이 범람하는 시대, 그로인해 상처가 가중되는 시대, 종갓집은 방치의 시선을 물리고 ‘모처(母處)’ 특유의 생성과 위안의 기능으로 주목 받고 있다. 다만 종갓집의 남다른 의미가 현재성의 재고에서 오듯, 조정권 시의 위의도 지금 여기에서 비롯된 근본에 대한 성찰의 부재에서 획득된다.

영문 초록

Poems by Cho Jung Gwon was examined from the point of view of “spiritualism”. Spiritualism, since it was first raised by Choi Dong-ho in the mid-1980s, has taken a important role as poetic methodology and epistemology in enlightening view of Korean modern poetry. However, in this paper, it was proved that the resource of spiritualism is closely connected with The Li's superintendence theory. The inquiry for spiritualism about which Cho Jung kwon is inquisitive steadily around Sanjeongmyoji (The tomb of summit) reaches to The Li's superintendence theory of Toegye. This close relation is revealed obviously when it reaches to the interrelation between The Li's superintendence theory and poetic language. Cho Jung Kwon’s poems in our era look like scenery of the head family house. In the era when misused desire flooded, and consequently, deepened wounds, the head family house shakes the eyes of neglect and comes into spotlight for functions of becoming and consolation of characteristic maternity. But the outstanding meanings of the head family house is coming from the present point, the dignified mien in Cho Jung kwon’s poems is acquired in absence of reflection for source. Conflicts between sacredness or secularity, conception and sense, transcendence and actualities and so on in his poems is accessories to reveal ‘outspokenness’ of Spiritualism.
