중국인 한국어 학습자의 통사·의미 처리에 대한 행동반응 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 중국인 한국어 학습자들을 대상으로 숙달도에 따라 한국어 문장의 통사적 처리와 의미적 처리가 어떻게 일어나는지에 대해 모어 화자와 비교하여 알아보았다. 기존 연구(이선영, 2013)에서 의미적 오류로 분류되었던 격조사 위반을 본 연구에서는 통사적 불일치로 보고, 동사 의미 위반을 새로이 의미적 불일치로 분류하여 비교하였다. 한국인 모어 화자와 중국인 중급, 고급 한국어 학습자 총 51명이 수행한 그림-문장 검증 과제를 바탕으로 실험 결과를 살펴보니 모어 화자는 통사적 처리를 의미적 처리보다 더 빠르지만 덜 정확하게 판단하였으나 중국인 학습자들은 이 둘 사이의 차이가 뚜렷하지 않았다. 하지만 제2언어 학습자는 숙달도가 높아지면서 모어 화자와 비슷해져 가는 양상을 보였는데, 이는 학습자들이 한국어 문법 및 어휘를 발달시켜 가는 과정으로 볼 수 있으며 ‘얕은 통사적 지식 가설’을 지지하는 결과로 해석되었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the processing of syntactic and semantic violation conditions in Korean based on a picture-sentence verification task by native speakers and Chinese learners of Korean, depending on their proficiency levels. In the previous study (Lee, 2013), case-marking mismatch was treated as semantic violations. On the other hand, in this study, case-marking mismatch was manipulated as syntactic violation condition, while sematic violation condition was based on the meaning of the verbs. The results from 51 native speakers and intermediate- and high-level learners show that the native speakers judged the syntactic violation sentences faster but less accurate than the semantic violation sentences, but Chinese learners did not show any distinctive patterns between the syntactic and semantic conditions. Moreover, as the learners’ proficiency level increased, their behavioral patterns became similar to native speakers’. The findings can be interpreted as supporting evidence for the ‘shallow syntax hypothesis,’ which shows that learners are in the process of developing their Korean grammar and vocabulary capacities.
