국문 초록
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate how students’ demographic citizenship has
changed during middle school and which factors influence students’ demographic citizenship.
Design/methodology/data/approach: This study employed a two-level multilevel growth
model to analyze Korean Education Longitudinal Study data from the 3rd wave (2015) to 5th
wave (2017) collected by the Korean Educational Development Institute.
Findings/Results: First, students’ demographic citizenship changed in quadratic form, decreasing
from 1st grade to 2nd grade and increasing during 3rd grade. Second, students’ demographic
citizenship was more influenced by parents’ process variables than by parents’ background
variables. Among students’ background variables, gender and basic academic ability were
significant factors and all of students’ process variables were analyzed as positive influencing
factors. The location of the school was a significant factor out of the school background variables.
Among school process variables, experience as a class leader and students’ perceived teacher
enthusiasm were positively influencing factors.
Value: The finding of this study contributes to improve understanding development of students’
demographic citizenship during middle school.
