국문 초록

본 연구는 고전 서사를 활용한 웹툰을 중심으로 살펴보아 고전 서사와의 긴밀한 관련성을 확인하고 향후 고전 서사의 활용 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 고전 서사를 기반으로 많은 웹툰이 창작되고 있다. 특히 대중들에게 많은 인기를 얻고 있는 웹툰 <바리공주>와 <그녀의 심청>을 중심으로 오늘날 대중들은 웹툰을 통해 고전 서사를 어떻게 이해하고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 웹툰 <바리공주>는 서사무가 <바리공주>를 기반으로 창작되어 대중들에게 널리 알려졌지만, 바리공주의 효녀로서의 모습은 비판의 대상이 되어 왔다. 하지만 웹툰 <바리공주>에서 바리공주의 삶을 면밀하게 따져봄으로써 비판과 논란의 문제들을 해명해주기도 하며, 바리공주를 다양한 측면에서 이해할 수 있게 한다는 점에서 웹툰의 의의를 찾아볼 수 있다. 웹툰 <그녀의 심청>에서는 심청이라는 효녀로 잘 알려진 <심청전>을 기반으로 창작되었다. 웹툰에서는 심청이에게 자신의 정체성이 무엇인지를 알려주면서 세상을 바라보는 다양한 관점을 깨닫게 해 주면서 효녀라는 인식에서 벗어나 여성, 이데올로기 비판 등을 문제제기하면서 고전과 현대의 접점을 찾아가고 있다. 웹툰은 그동안 고전 서사를 충분히 반영하지 못한다는 인식이 있어 왔지만, 지금은 고전 서사를 다양한 관점에서 이해할 수 있도록 하는 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 그리고 고전 서사를 현대를 살고있는 우리에게 여전히 유효한 가치를 지닐 수 있음을 끊임없이 확인시켜 주고 있다는 점에서 의미를 지닐 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to confirm the close relationship with classical narratives by focusing on webtoons using classical narratives and suggest the direction of use of classical narratives in the future. Many webtoons are being created based on classical narratives. In particular, we looked at how the public today understands classical narratives through webtoons, focusing on the webtoons and which are very popular with the public. The webtoon was created based on and was widely known to the public, but Princess Pari's appearance as a filial daughter has been the subject of criticism. However, the webtoon explains the problems of criticism and controversy by closely examining Princess Pari's life, and the significance of the webtoon can be found in that it allows her to understand in various aspects. In the webtoon , it was created based on , which is well known as a filial daughter named Simcheong. In the webtoon, Simcheong is finding a point of contact between classic and modern times, breaking away from the perception of being a filial daughter and raising issues such as criticism of women and ideology, while letting Simcheong know what her identity is. There has been a perception that webtoons do not fully reflect classical narratives, but now they play an important role in making them understood from various perspectives. And it can be meaningful in that it constantly confirms that classical narratives can still have valid values for us living in modern times.
