국문 초록

의사학자 미키 사카에는 그의 『조선의학사급질병사』, 『조선의서지』, 『조선의사년표』 3개의 대표 저술로 한국의학사 연구에 큰 기여를 하였다. 그는 1927년에 규슈제국대학 의학부를 졸업하고 다음 해에 경성에 와서 1944년까지 조선에서 살았다. 본 연구는 그가 조선에서 의사로서, 그리고 조선총독부 의관으로서 활동한 경력에 초점을 맞추었다. 그는 1928년에 경성제국대학 의학부 제3내과에 들어와서 지도 교수인 시노사키 교수를 따라 실험 연구에 참여하였다. 그리고 1932년 8월에 규슈제국대학 의학박사 학위를 받았다는 것은 본고에서 밝혀졌다. 1933년에 그는 경성제국대학 조교수가 되었고 1935년까지 경성부립경비진료소(경성부립부민병원)에서 일하였다. 1935년 8월에 그는 경기도립수원의원 원장으로 부임해서 1944년까지 거기서 일하였다. 그는 의사로서의 진료 활동 외에 여가를 이용하여 그의 취미인 한국의학사에 관한 초보적인 연구 성과도 이루었다.

영문 초록

Sakae Miki, a Japanese medical historian, was a leading figure in the study of medical history in the Korean Peninsula due to his three representative books, Bibliography of Korean medicine, ancient and mediaeval, History of Korean medicine and of diseases in Korea, and Chronological table of Korean medicine. After graduating from Kyushu Imperial University’s Faculty of Medicine in 1927, he moved to Seoul (then called Keijo) the following year and lived in colonial Korea until 1944. As a doctor and bureaucrat working for the Government-General of Chosen in colonial Korea, this study focused on his career activities. It was in 1928 when he entered Keijo Imperial University’s Faculty of Medicine where he participated in experimental research under the supervision of Professor Shinosaki, who was the chief of the third Institute of Medicine. It was discovered that he received his doctorate in medicine from Kyushu Imperial University in August 1932. In 1933, he became an assistant professor of Keijo Imperial University and started working at the Keijo Prefectural Resident Hospital until 1935. In August 1935, he was appointed as the director of Suigen Provincial Hospital where he served until 1944. While actively practicing medicine in colonial Korea, he spent his spare time researching Korean medical history, which he used for the basis of his later publications.
