국문 초록

본 연구는 몽골의 대표적인 생태관광지역인 홉스골 지역주민을 대상으로 환경 및 생태관광 영향을 알아봄으로써 몽골 생태관광의 발전적 논의를 이끌어냄으로써 관광정책에 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 몽골의 홉스골에 거주하는 주민을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 홉스골 지역주민의 인구통계학적 특성에 따라 차이가 나타났는데, 특히 남성이 환경중심성에서 여성보다 높게 나타났으며, 여성은 인간중심성과 균형성에서 더 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 생태관광영향에서는 여성이 남성보다 생태관광 영향에 긍정적인 인식이 높게 나타났으며, 특히 직업군에서는 공무원이 다른 직업군보다 경제적 측면에 부정적으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 다양한 지역문제가 발생하는 것을 직접적으로 관리하는 업무를 담당하기 때문에 더 민감하게 인식하는 것으로 보인다. 마지막으로 환경인식 중 균형성(자연과의 조화)은 생태관광에 따른 부정적인 영향을 낮게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 적정한 관광개발이 지역의 환경이 보전되고 지역발전에 도움이 될 것이라고 인식하고 있기 때문이다. 따라서 몽골의 생태관광은 자연환경을 보호 및 보전을 바탕으로 경제적 이득뿐만 아니라 환경훼손을 최소화하는 노력이 무엇보다도 필요할 것이다. 지금까지 관광을 포함한 다양한 개발에서 환경과의 조화로운 개발이 이루어지지 못해 부정적인 영향이 홉스골지역에서도 나타날 수 있기 때문이다. 향후에는 생태관광이 지역의 자연환경과의 적절하게 균형감을 가질 수 있도록 다양한 노력이 필요한데, 특히 지역주민이 지역관광의 객체가 아닌 주체로서 참여할 수 있는 제도를 마련하여 공공과 민간이 공동으로 참여하여 지속가능한 생태관광 발전에 필요한 제도와 개발이 함께 이루어질 수 있도록 다각적인 노력이 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the environmental and ecotourism impacts of the Khuvsgul region in Mongolia and to suggest some implications for tourism policy in the development of ecotourism in Mongolia. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted to the residents of Khuvsgul. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, differences appeared depending on the demographic characteristics of the Khuvsgul area residents; particularly, men had a higher awareness of the natural environment, and women were more likely to be in harmony with nature. Second, women were more likely to be eco-tourism-influenced by men. For the occupational group, public officials perceived more negative economic aspects than other occupational groups. This seems to be more sensitive because officials are responsible for directly managing the occurrence of various regional problems. Finally, it was found that balance (harmony with nature) lowers the adverse effects of ecotourism. This is because proper tourism development recognizes that the environment of the area should be preserved and should contribute to regional development. Therefore, ecotourism in Mongolia would be necessary not only for economic benefits but also for minimizing environmental damage based on conservation. Until now, various development including tourism has not been able to occur harmoniously with the environment, and negative influences can be seen in the Khuvsgul region. In the future, various efforts will be needed to ensure that ecotourism has an appropriate balance with the natural environment of the area. In particular, it is necessary to establish a system in which local residents can participate as a subject, not as an object, of local tourism.
