국문 초록

본 연구는 섬이 지닌 격절성, 협소성, 환해성 등의 특수성으로 인하여, 섬 관광개발은 육지와는 다른 접근에 의하여 관광개발이 이루어져야 한다는 인식에서 출발하였다. 그동안 섬 관광연구는 섬을 관광목적지로 보고 발전단계, 관리모델, 경쟁력 지표, 섬 이미지 등에 대한 연구와 섬 관광지의 선택속성, 체험품질, 재방문 연구가 이루어졌으나 소규모 섬 관광개발에 대한 연구는 미미한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 섬 지역의 여건에 따라 관광개발 조건을 평가하고 어떤 방향으로 관광개발 추진하는 것이 적정한 지를 평가할 수 있는 섬 관광개발 측정척도를 개발하고 이를 제주도 내 섬에 적용하여 척도의 적용가능성을 검토하는 것에 두었다. 이를 위하여 섬 관광개발 관련 척도에 대한 선행 연구를 토대로 섬 관광개발에 적합한 척도 항목을 도출하고 요인분석 등을 통해 척도의 신뢰성과 타당성을 확보하고자 하였다. 도출된 섬 관광개발 측정척도를 제주도 내 소규모 섬을 대상으로 적용해 봄으로써 측정척도의 적용 가능성을 검토하였다. 본 연구결과는 섬 관광개발에 대한 연구가 부족한 현실에서 섬 지역의 관광개발을 위한 기초적인 자료로서 활용될 것이 기대되며, 점차 가속화되고 있는 섬 관광개발 정책 추진 시 섬 관광개발 척도 적용을 통하여 관광개발을 점검하고 체계적으로 추진하는 계기가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This study started from the recognition that islands should be developed differently from the mainland because of their specific characteristics such as isolation, narrowness, and being surrounded by the sea. Studies on island tourism have been conducted on the tourism development stage, management model, competitiveness indicators, island image, island selection attributes, experience quality, and revisitation. However, there are few studies on small island tourism development. The purpose of this study is to develop an island tourism development measurement scale to evaluate the conditions of tourism development according to the conditions of the island area, to evaluate the appropriate direction of tourism development, and to apply it to the islands around Jeju Island to examine its applicability. Based on the previous studies on the scales of tourism development related to islands, appropriate scale items for island tourism development were derived and the reliability and validity of the scales were verified by analyzing the results of the questionnaire survey. In this process, factor analysis was conducted using SPSS. The results of this study can be used as basic data for tourism development in small island areas due to lack of research on island tourism development..
