국문 초록

도산 안창호는 민족의 독립을 위해 활동한 운동가이자 혁명가라 할 수 있다. 그에 있어 민족은 계몽의 대상이면서도 독립의 주체였다. 그에 있어 민족독립운동은 한민족을 위한 신민과 신국의 건설이었다. 이를 위해 민족 개개인은 주인의식에 근거한 힘의 배양과 민주적 독립운동을 통한 국가건설을 강조한 것이다. 그렇기 때문에 도산이 보여준 민족독립운동은 민주적 투쟁노선에 기초하고 있다. 도산의 민족운동은 애국 계몽주의에, 독립운동은 민주적 투쟁노선에 바탕하고 있다. 그는 애국 계몽운동을 위해 교육기관과 수양단체인 흥사단을 조직하고 운영하였으며, 독립운동으로 신민회의 조직을 시작으로 대한독립당 결성 등 다양한 정치단체에서 활동하였다. 이러한 그의 민족독립운동은 정신적 차원의 무실역행과 행동적 차원의 대공주의를 실천하려는 특징을 지니고 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 도산이 보여준 민족독립운동의 본질을 살펴보려는 것이다. 민족의 독립을 위한 그의 활동이 지닌 의미를 살펴봄으로써 현대적 가치를 재조명하려는 것이다.

영문 초록

Dosan An Chang-ho is an national activist and revolutionary for Korean independence. For him, the nation was an object of enlightenment and the subject of independence. His national independence movements aimed at creating a new people and constructing a new state for Koreans. For this purpose, he emphasized every individual’s capacity cultivation on the basis of a sense of sovereignty and the foundation of a state through a democratic independence movement. Thus, Dosan’s campaigns for the independence was founded on the democratic line of struggles. Dosan’s national movements were based on the patriotic enlightenment and his independence movements on the democratic line of struggles. He established and managed the Young Korean Academy (興士團), an educational and training organization for the patriotic enlightenment. He also founded the Shinminhoe (New Korea Society), Daehan Doglibdang Party and other political organizations to carry out his activities. His national independence movements reveal the characteristics of Musiryeokaeng (eager implementation of true and fruitful task) on the spiritual dimension and Daegongism (emphasizing fidelity for the publicness and nation-state) on the behavioral stage. The paper therefore examines the essence of the national independence movements Dosan executed. This investigation into the significance of his activities for Korean national independence is to illuminate their contemporary values once again.
