조동호의 민족독립운동과 시대정신

국문 초록

유정 조동호는 1910년 국권피탈 이후 현실적인 항일독립운동의 방략을 찾기 위해 중국으로 망명하였다. 남경 금릉대학을 졸업하고 『구국일보』의 기자로서 중국에서의 대외활동을 시작한 그는 신규식에 의해 조직된 동제사에 참여하면서 본격적인 독립운동의 발판을 마련하였다. 특히 1918년 제1차 세계대전이 종결되면서 전후처리를 위해 파리강화회의가 개최되는 등 변화되는 국제정세의 흐름에 보다 능동적이고 조직적으로 독립운동을 전개하고자 여운형 등과 신한청년당을 창당하였다. 조동호는 동지들과 파리강화회의에 대표를 파견하기로 결정, 당원들을 국내외로 파견하여 대표의 활동을 지원하는 일을 시작으로 본격적인 항일활동을 전개하였다. 신한청년당의 당원파견을 통한 활동은 독립지사들을 상해로 집결하게 하는 연결고리가 되었다. 조동호는 국내외로부터 온 독립지사들과 함께 임시정부 수립을 위한 구체적인 작업에 착수하여 1919년 4월 13일 대한민국임시정부 수립에 참여하였다. 조동호는 임시의정원의원, 국무위원 등으로 선출되어 활동하였고, 임시정부내 설치한 임시사료편찬위원회의 사료편찬과 『독립신문』발행에 실무를 담당하였다. 그리고 독립신문에 다수의 글을 기고하여 자신의 민족의식과 시대정신을 피력하였다. 이러한 활동과 함께 조동호는 1921년 한중친선, 한국독립과 중국혁명에서 상호협조를 목적으로 한 한중호조사 및 1922년 노병의 양성과 전비조성을 목적으로 한 한국노병회를 조직하여 활동하면서 현실적인 항일투쟁을 전개하였다. 1923년 귀국 후에도 국내외를 오가며 투옥과 출옥을 반복하면서 언론 항일투쟁을 이어 가는 등 일제강점기 전후 국내외에서 일생동안 민족운동을 전개해 나갔다.

영문 초록

In 1910, Jo Dong-ho faced with the reality of the nation's peril, and exiled to Shanghai to find a method of realistic anti-Japanese independence movement. Immediately after arriving in China, he graduated from Nanjing Gumlung University with a degree in Chinese Studies. He started his foreign activities in China as a reporter for the Chinese newspaper Guguk. At that time, he participated in dongjesa, organized in 1912, to form a foundation for the independence movement. Especially after the end of the First World War in November 1918, the Paris Strengthening Conference was held to solve the problems after the war. He tried to use this atmosphere for the independence movement. He felt that he needed an organization to actively respond to this situation and to develop an independent movement. So he organized Shinhan Youth Party. Cho Dong-ho decided to dispatch Kim Kyu-sik to the Paris Strengthening Council and dispatched the members to Korea and abroad to support Kim Kyu-sik's activities. The activities of dispatching members of the Shinhan Youth Party to Korea and abroad have become a link for collecting independent activists in Shanghai. Based on this, he established a provisional gauge and proclaimed the provisional government of the Republic of Korea on April 13, 1919. Cho Dong-ho took the initiative in establishing the provisional government, and was elected as a temporary lieutenant and a member of the State Council. In addition, he was responsible for the compilation of the feed of the temporary feed compilation committee established in the provisional government and the issue of the independent newspaper. It was possible to publish newspapers by casting typefaces, and published journal articles and articles as reporters to promote anti-Japanese press activities to promote national consciousness. In addition, in 1921, he organized the Korea-China mutual assist congregation(한중호조사) for the purpose of friendship and mutual cooperation between Korea and China. In 1922, organized the Korean nobyeonghoe(한국노병회) and worked on accounting and education. He returned to Korea in 1923 and continued the anti-Japanese struggle through the Dong-A Ilbo and the Chosun Joongang Ilbo. In 1925, he participated in the organization of the Communist Party of Korea. He continued his national independence movement throughout his life, both at home and abroad, before and during the Japanese colonial period.
