국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 단재 신채호가 유교에 대해 어떻게 보고 있으며, 유교관이 국가와 어떤 연관성이 있는지 살펴보고자 한다. 단재 신채호는 유학의 본지를 바르게 인식하고, 실학과 대동에 힘써서 유교를 더 빛나게 할 것을 주장한다. 그리고 현재의 난국을 극복하기 위해서는 개인의 수기치인(修己治人)으로서의 덕목인 소강(小康)에 적용되는 시비(是非)사상에 문제제기를 하였다. 단재 신채호의 유교의 도덕적 가치판단의 기준은 국가의 이해(利害)에 기초하고 있다. 도덕을 시비에 근거하지 않고 이해에 두는 것은 노예주의에서 탈피하여 우리민족의 주체성 회복을 의미하는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 그는 우리의 고유사상인 국수를 보존하고 조선을 위한 주의와 조선을 위한 도덕을 토대로 한 자기의식의 민족주체성만이 국권회복을 가능하게 할 수 있다는 것을 강조한다. 기존의 불합리한 모든 제도를 부인하고 오직 국가에 이익이 되는 모든 것이 그에게는 망국민(亡國民)의 특별도덕이 되는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate how Danjae Shin Chae-ho viewed Confucianism and how a view on Confucianism is related to a nation. He insisted on properly recognizing the true purpose of Confucianism and working hard on Shilhak and Daedong in order to light up Confucianism. To overcome difficulties of the time, he raised issues with the idea of Sibi (是非, Right and wrong), which is applied to the virtue of an individual’s Sugichiin (修己治人), Sogang (小康). Dajae Shin Chae-ho’s standards for Confucian moral value judgments are based on Ihae (利害, benefits and risks) of a nation. Basing morality on Ihae instead of Sibi can mean recovery of our people’s independence by moving away from slavery. He emphasized that people had to preserve our own ideology of Guksu (spiritual and material advantages possessed by a nation or its people) and only the national identity built with self-consciousness, which is based on moral justification for Joseon and Joseon, can restore national sovereignty. To him, everything that denies all existing irrational policies and benefits the nation is special morality of people from a ruined nation (亡國民). Everything that denies all existing irrational institutions and only benefits the state is the special morality of his people.
