폭력 허용도가 데이트 폭력 가해행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구는 개인이 지각한 폭력 허용도가 데이트 폭력에 미치는 영향에 관해서 검증하는 것이 주된 연구의 목적이다. 다만, 기존 선행연구들과 달리 이 연구에서는 데이트 폭력을 강압적 통제(행동통제, 정서적 학대)와 물리적 폭력(신체적 폭력, 성폭력)으로 재분류하여 분석하였다. 특히, 개인이 지각한 폭력 허용도가 데이트 폭력 중 가벼운 행동통제에서부터 정서적 학대로 이어져 물리적 폭력으로 점차 확대(escalation)되는 경로를 분석하는 데서 기존 연구들과 차별점을 가진다. 이 연구의 분석자료는 한국형사정책연구원(현 한국형사·법무정책연구원)에서 실시한 ‘데이트 폭력 실태조사 2015’ 자료를 활용하였으며, 조사대상은 만 19세 이상 60세 미만의 미혼 남성 2,000명으로 구성된다. 다음으로 분석결과는 첫째, 구조모형에서 모형적합도 기준을 모두 충족하여 연구모형을 수용할 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 경로분석 결과 모든 경로들은 통계적으로 유의미한 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 매개효과 검증 결과, 연구모형에서 모두 직접효과와 간접효과, 총효과가 확인되었다. 다만, 폭력 허용도와 물리적 폭력 간의 관계에서는 직접효과가 확인되지 않았으며, 대신 행동통제와 정서적 학대를 매개하는 완전매개효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로 매개경로의 특정간접효과는 모두 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 이 논문은 이러한 분석결과를 토대로 데이트 폭력에서 강압적 통제의 중요성과 후속연구에 대한 방향성을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to determine how perceived violence acceptability affects dating violence in an individual. As opposed to previous studies, this study reclassified dating violence into coercive control (behavioral control, emotional abuse) and physical dating violence (physical violence, sexual violence). It was examined in particular how individuals' acceptability for violence progressively grew from behavioral control to emotional abuse, and ultimately to physical violence. This is the difference between this study and previous studies. A total of 2,000 unmarried men between the ages of 19 and 60 were surveyed for this study. The study used data from the ‘Dating Violence Survey 2015’ conducted by the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice. Here are the results of the analysis. First, in the structural model, the criteria for model fit are met, so the research model can be accepted. Second, all paths show a statistically significant effect based on the path analysis. Third, all research models confirmed direct effect, indirect effect, and total effect as a result of mediating effect verification. The relationship between violence acceptability and physical violence, however, was not directly affected. Behavioral control and emotional abuse were confirmed to be mediated by a full mediating effect. Finally, all specific indirect effects associated with mediation pathways were found to be significant. Thus, the results of this study suggest the importance of coercive control in dating violence, as well as directions for further research.
