국문 초록

이 글은 중국근대의 저명한 사상가이자 정치가였던 양계초의 사회진화론을 바탕으로 니체사상과 어떠한 연관성이 있는지 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 사회진화 론을 중국에 유행시키고, 그것을 바탕으로 자신의 정치적 주장을 전개했던 양계 초의 사상에서 사회진화론에 비판적이었던 니체 사상과 상통하는 점이 발견된 다는 것은 흥미롭다. 양계초는 진화사상의 주체, 동력, 과정을 얘기하면서, 인간 자신의 자유의지를 강조하였고, 능동적이며 주체적 변혁을 강조했는데, 노예도 덕에서 벗어나 고상한 도덕을 실현해야한다고 주장한 니체를 연상시킨다. 또한 양계초의 심능에 대한 강조는 외부에 대한 적응이나 자기보존 보다는 인간 내부 에서 힘에 의지가 발현된다고 한 니체의 주장과 일맥상통한다. 이렇듯 양계초와 니체의 사상은 표면적으로 매우 다르지만, 인류의 도덕과 가치가 새로워져야 한 다는 근본적인 출발점은 같았다.

영문 초록

This article is to examine how Nietzsche’s thoughts is connected with the social evolution theory of Liang Qichao, a prominent Chinese thinker in modern times. It is interesting to find something in common with Nietzsche’s idea, which was critical in the social evolution theory of Liang Qichao, who made the social evolution theory popular in modern China and developed his political thought based on it. Liang emphasized the free will of man himself, emphasizing the subject, power, process of evolution, and active and subjective transformation, which reminiscent of Nietzsche, who argued that noble morality should be realized away from slave morality. In addition, Liang’s emphasis on the function of the mind is in line with the argument that the will is expressed in power within human inside rather than adaptation to the outside or self-preservation. The ideas of Liang and Nietzsche are different on the surface, but the fundamental starting point was the same that human morality and value should be renewed.
