한중수교 당시 국내 인식에 관한 연구

국문 초록

한중 간의 수교가 체결된 지 25년에 즈음하여 체결 당시의 역사적 기억은 체결회담에 참여했던 당사자들을 중심으로 기록되어 오고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 당대의 사회가 한중수교를 어떻게 바라보고 있는지를 분석함으로써 기억의 공간을 한층 다양하게 구성해 보고자 한다. 본 연구는 한중 간에 발생했던 사건을 중심으로 당대의 선언문과 성명문 그리고 칼럼을 포함한 사설 및 삽화 일체를 분석한다. 선언문과 성명문 등 공식 문건은 정부의 입장을 대변하는 자료로, 사설 및 삽화 등은 당시의 사회적 인식을 대변하는 자료로 활용했다. 본 연구가 삽화 등의 시각 자료를 분석 자료로 삼은 이유는 시각 매체의 특성상 선언문과 성명문 그리고 사설 등의 언어 매체가 담지 못하는 부분을 좀 더 풍부하게 녹여낼 수 있는 동시에 당시의 시대상과 시대정신을 대변함으로써 특정 사건에 대한 인식을 읽을 수 있는 중요한 역할을 하기 때문이다. 한중관계의 취약성을 지적하며 양국관계를 재조망하고 새롭게 정립할 필요가 있다는 주장이 지속적으로 제기되는 정세에서 다양한 자료에 근거한 기본인식에 대한 분석은 이른바 ‘한중관계의 착시 현상’에 관한 근원을 추적할 수 있다는 점에서 일정한 의의가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 한중수교 체결 당시의 사회적 인식을 분석하고 이를 국내 정치적인 맥락에서 조망함으로써 그 함의를 도출해 보고자 한다.

영문 초록

On the 25th anniversary of the signing of diplomatic relations between Korea and China, historical memory of Korea-China diplomatic relations has been recorded among the parties involved in the negotiation. This study focuses on analyzing how the society of that time recognize at korea-china relations. The analysis data is illustrations, columns and the government’s official statements of the times which occurred incidents between korea and china. The reason why this study analyzes illustrations is that illustrations can supplement the deficient parts of language media such as statements and columns. And the reason for the comparison of the government’s statements is that korea’s domestic political situations in 1992 is related to perception of the korea-china diplomatic relations. There is a constant claim that the relationship between Sino-korean needs to be renewed with the vulnerability of two countries. In this situation, the analysis of perception of society based on various data is meaningful in that it can trace the origin of ‘illusions about Sino-korean relations’. By looking at some important depictions of the data this study aims to illustrate how the perception of society of that time is composed and derives the implications.
